What is the best shareware/freeware that can be used rip a homemade dvd? Are there any preferable methods to do this?

Thanks for any real advice.

if you made this dvd at home, then you'd know the answer to your own question

I recorded a movie on with my minidvd camcorder, and I wanted to put the video on youtube. I found a good website with a tutorial on how to rip it, and make an avi out of it.
