The first season was great. I'll catch the second series eventually. Probably over the summer.

That show is freakin' hilarious when Ricky Gervais isn't being so Ricky Gervais. I know it's the whole point... but he's such a dickhole that it stops being funny at times and starts making me mad. Other than that, the writing for the other characters is fucking amazing, and it's usually a funny show. I still won't watch it, because he insists on being a choad in his shows.

The first season was flawless. The second season is kinda sad. It already aired on BBC a while back.

I saw the episode with Kate Winslet back in the day. It had me in tears. The episode with Ben Stiller was just awful. I have no idea what season those episodes are from.

^ That was the first season. Kate Winslet was in the very first episode of the series I think.

Yeah, it was great.

David Bowie singing about him was very cool too. Poor guy...

This season is a lot more sad, but it also brings the funny.

My favorite parts are between him and his agent. His levels of incompetence are beyond belief.

Its hilarious, but sometimes its more painful to watch than it is funny. I cant decide whether Im supposed to want the characters to succeed or fail (becaue they're such dicks).

Just watched the BAFTA episode and the Andy Millman doll was awesome. I so want one for my birthday.

According to Wiki, the Ricky Gervais Show did a third season in Sept and did a few holiday specials. Here I come torrents!

I enjoy it, but every episode I get the feeling I'm just watching a british version of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

it's a similar style i guess.. but you'll probably find that curb your enthusiasm wasn't the first show to use it either

you havin a laugh?

Andy: I'm in a sitcom. It's called "When The Whistle Blows", have you seen it?
Bowie: I havent, no. Is it any good?
Man (offscreen): Nah, it's shit!
Andy: Just riff-raff.. everywhere..

It kinda has gotten like CYE, but a different style. Gervais is a fan of the show.

from IMDB.com
Quote :
"Comedian Ricky Gervais will make a final Christmas special episode of TV hit Extras before axing the show, according to reports. The Emmy-winning creator of The Office is determined not to risk the failure of a poor third series, and would rather move onto new projects. After the success of The Office, Extras attracted a host of A-list celebrities desperate for cameo roles including David Bowie, Chris Martin and Ben Stiller. The insider tells British newspaper The Sun, "There had been reports that Ricky was going to go ahead with a third series of Extras. But he is firmly of the opinion that third series are rarely a success and has decided to quit while he's ahead. When he said goodbye to The Office with a two-part Christmas special, it was a smash hit both in the ratings and critically, so he's decided to do that again. He's loved making the series and there are tons more A-list stars who want to appear. But Ricky has lots of other things he wants to do and feels this is the right timing.""

DAMMIT!

Just when it was getting good. This was some quality shit, but I guess he realized the plot had sorta died and the novelty had worn off. Still some of the funniest shows I can remember this side of It's Always Sunny.

Ricky Gervais knows to just give us a little of a show. I appreciate the fact that he knows not to drive an idea into the ground. Although i could use as much Ricky Gervais Radio Show as possible.

Ricky Gervais is the man. Hopefully him and Merchant will make another bomb ass series. I'm glad to hear he is ending it with another special like with The Office

From IMDB.com
Quote :
"Pop superstar Madonna may be set to star in the last ever episode of Ricky Gervais' hit TV comedy Extras. Gervais and writing partner Stephen Merchant will end the program's two series run with a star-studded Christmas special this year. A host of A-list stars have appeared in the series, including David Bowie, Robert De Niro, and Chris Martin. Gervais and Merchant want the show to bow out in style with a guest-appearance from Madonna. According to reports, Gervais has been in contact with the Material Girl since they met backstage at the Live8 concert in London in 2005, and a deal is almost complete."

Quote :
"Today at their TCA presentation, HBO made several announcements about their upcoming slate, including the official confirmation that a one-hour Extras special from Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant is in the works. The special will wrap up the storyline from the comedy series. Ashley Jensen, now a regular on Ugly Betty, will return as the friend of Gervais's Andy Millman.

HBO's Michael Lombardo (President, Programming Group and West Coast Operations) said "Ricky [Gervais] opted to do a movie special" to conclude Extras, but also, "Separately we are in conversations with Ricky about a standup special, which would be next year.""

Hahaha yeah the Clive Owen part was great. It was pretty funny when she left so they called the other extra in and she was that old woman and he was like "...fuck off"

The Dr. Who part was pretty funny too, it was great they they got David Tennant to pretty much make fun of himself (any of you who watch the new Dr. Who series knows what I mean).

It seemed like the show gets more and more serious and depressing and less funny as it goes along...not really a criticism, just an observation. And this finale was especially so...I understand that with an hour and a half episode, you need more plot development time and stuff, but this one just seemed like a normal episode of Extras stretched out over the hour and a half.

It was good, especially the ending and the Clive Owen scene...but just seemed forced into a longer timeslot unneccesarily

^agreed. Even the original Office was less LOL than its American counterpart. I mean you actually felt bad for the characters most of the time. Still funny though, just in a different way.

it doesn't suck, but the British Office was a much smarter show, and they knew when to end it. the storylines on the American Office now are pretty weak.
