anybody think paula is on some drugs (again) this year? she's usually all giddy and stupid acting but she was definitely out of it tonight. i think she said maybe 10 words all night. looked out of it too... like she was on some elephant tranquilizers or something.

I agree about the lack of chemistry thing. to me it also seemed like no one involved in the show (even Seacrest) wanted to be there. should have definitely ended after last season. it was the best they've had so far and will be tough to follow, in my opinion..

oh man, this shit had me ROLLING tonight, especially that awkward nerdy kid that kept closing his eyes when he talked.

i wonder how they fit all these auditions into two days. i noticed that simon said on the other episode that the audition was two minutes long, and it doesn't seem possible that they could audition 10K+ people by themselves. pre-screening? a contestant lottery, perhaps?

it has been said before that there is a "pre-screening". . the singers get in front of a table of other judges in the main lobby and sing a tune or 2, and they are told yes or no.
only a certain, small percentage actually move forward and get to see simon, paula, and randy..

which definitely proves that they let some of these horrendous people through on purpose. The first time clay aiken auditioned, he didn't make it past the first test...he didn't even get to see the 3 main judges. he went to a different city and finally got to sing in front of them, and you see what happened.

I normally don't watch too much of this show, but the first two episodes just screamed "shitty." The singers were terrible, the lowered their standards for a few contestants who did make it to Hollywood, the judges just seemed pissed and even more brutal than usual, the editors of the show sucked, etc.

I did laugh when Simon called the one kid a bush-baby though,
