okay, the other thread died out so I started this one...

A buddy and I are running at Lake Johnson M-F at 6:30 am. I'm trying to get a little group going with guys and girls so we'll have enough people for ability groups...

PM me if interested or just show up at the Lake Johnson parking lot (by the building) at 630.

i'm only going 3 miles in the AM but I'm looking to increase to around 4-5.

The more people I get, the better because we'll have many different ability groups to work with and everyone will have a partner

There is a reason the other thread died. It's because only a few exceptions on this site are motivated enough to stick to a work out routine. And 6:30am? These are college kids man, this shit will never work.

I stopped updating the other thread because NO ONE ever fucking came.

Okay, ONE girl made it out a couple of times. I've learned that Tdub is full of lazy/busy people

actually to lose weight running isnt your best option...weight liftin and about 20 min of cardio would be best, cardio only burns calories for about 3 hours after u work out, lifting tears the muscle so the protein continues to rebuild and thus using more energy requires more of ur bodies supply of fat making you lose weight

thats what i have found recently anyways.

except you lose 2-3 times the calories during a good cardio workout, versus lifting. He probably means he wants to lose FAT, not really just weight. Weight lifting doesn't have any significant impact on that, more muscle burns more intake calories, it doesn't burn more fat.

Chew on this.

I had a lower body fat percentage when I was real particular about my diet and did nothing but weight lifting (next to zero cardio outside of an occasional volleyball game or something) than last year when I was swimming 2-4 miles a week, riding ~100+ miles a week, and running ~15 miles a week and still being fairly particular (though not quite as much) about my diet.

i never understood why people do one or the other...i've always been one of those people that would lift weights AND do cardio stuff...usually just alternate the days

i thought this was common sense but then u read threads like this and wonder...

^you can lift in the evenings even after running every day which is what I'm doing. Its working so far. I lost 35 lbs and maintained 80% strength.

PLus, it depends on your routine during the day. My job is extremely sedentary so I pretty much had to completely change my diet and do something for exercise every day. Different strokes for different folks i guess

I do both on the same day. I run 5-6 miles [and bike the hills 2-3 days a week] after I lift 5 days a week. I don't really care if that is 'the right way' but I've seen great results in only 3 months. By summertime I'm pretty confident I'll look and feel the way I want to.

Though, unlike MOST (not all) people on here I'm very motivated and very disciplined when it comes to it..
