"Who says you can’t go home again? 850 The Buzz and 620 The Bull have learned that former NC State head football coach Chuck Amato will be the new linebackers coach at Florida State. Amato spent 18 years in various defensive football coaching capacities, including that of assistant head coach for 14 years. One of those jobs included 4 seasons as linebackers coach."

he was probably on his knees begging bowden like...

"Please Bobby, I'll do anything for you if i can coach on your team here. It will be like the old days when we ruled the ACC together. Please Bobby, Drew Weatherford is ICE and your team has character!"

that isn't surprising at all...

i figured bowden would let him back on the staff, especially considering how close they are

not suprising, and it sucks for us. amato is a helluva recruiter and he knows defense, especially linebacking.

^ that is gay if true

Overall I am happy that Chuck went back to where he was successful. He is still a State Alum and I want him to do well just as long as State keeps beating them in football.

I highly doubt amato was begging for anything. Amato knows defenses, and he's probably overqualified for the job. He's also a top-notch recruiter. If it were me, I would have tried to get a HC at a smaller school. It's undeniable that he built up our program significantly, and he could probably do that somewhere else.

I agree about wanting Amato to do well. When he was at state, he worked with the defense, and our defense was good multiple years. The problem was only with the other coaches he selected, and its not always easy to replace great offensive coordinators with a small selection of options.

I want him to do well in every game that isn't against us. He just got in over his head here. Glad to see him gone, but I do feel a little bad for him.

Figured he would go back to FSU, they tryin to get back to dominance...and he fits in perfectly as he did before, but damn that is going to be a headache come FSU games in the future lol.

I think FSU going to go back to ball busting real soon

I can't wait 6 years from now, when Florida State wins a National Championship, Bobby Bowden retires, Jimbo Fisher gets Head Coach, and NCSU fires O'brien for a lack luster 2-10 season following a the previous year's 5-7. NCSU looks for another coach and takes back Amato.

It's a vicious cycle. It probably won't happen but god the sweet irony.

[no]

1. I doubt we go 2-10 ever
2. we won't take Amato back, ever. Schools just don't do that.

When was the last time a team had to play both the former head coach with his new team and the team where the new head coach came from in the very next season, and every year after that?

If FSU is smart, Jimbo wins that battle... only thing Amato has going for him is 18 years at FSU and a Gator bowl as a head coach followed by a steady decline...

Yeah we face O'Cain almost every year...he was at UNC then Clemson and now Virginia Tech.

I have a lot more respect for Bowden now a days than I used to. Watch We Are Marshall and you will understand even more.

^unfortunately, I don't have any doubt. Jeff Bowden was the thick headed anchor of that team that was holding them back. With Fisher and all of the new coaching blood they've got in there, I hate to say it, but I fear they're going to be cocked, locked, and ready to rock over the next few years. Bowden's going out in a blaze of glory.

so what do y'all think will happen next time we play FSU at home? will jackasses boo him and make signs and shit like that? I sure as hell hope not. I wish Chuck all the best, he poured his heart and soul into the program and this was his dream job. I thought it was time for him to go, and now I wish him the best regardless of where he goes (except if he went to UNC). I'm just afraid some of our fans might make a scene. Am I wrong?
