my apt complex uses airimba a wireless internet provider. it is often slow and crashes alot but its free so i use it.

lately, however, i have noticed that the wireless internet for my computer has been going down but the wireless internet continues to work. i've tried reconnecting to the wireless switch, renewing ip address, but not till i restart my computer am i successfully able to re log in to my airimba account to access the internet.

Is this problem due to a virus, the wireless card, or what? i cannot figure it out and its getting annoying having to restart my comptuer every few hours.

btw i started using bittornet recently not sure if that has anything to do with the issue

its probably just the shitty internet service.

bittorent im sure isnt helping the situation either.

have you tried ipconfig/release -- ipconfig/renew?

try updating the driver for your wireless card.

If the complx offers the service free of charge, expect people to abuse the hell out of it (via things like BitTorrent) until it goes down. In my last apartment, I think there was 1 of 7 days where it worked "good", and that probably only b/c of a reboot. If you are paying for it, I'd knock on a few doors and find out whats up.

Linksys- Instant Wirelss PCI Vard

i did some tests on my desktop and i can ping my laptop both of which on the local wireless internet. However, I am not able to ping the local gateway. My laptop with running internet though is able to successfully ping the gateway.

right now i'm using remote desktop connection to connect to my laptop across the network, yet, i can not access the internet. I think the gateway is blocking me.
