^^ No our athletic program isn't a joke we put together good talent just bad coaches get it right. If your going to slam the program atleast do it correctly. Now we have new coaches in football and basketball give then three years and we will see a change. Out baseball team does well along with other sports teams. If you go to NCSU don't pull for UNC in the NCSU student section thats just stupid. You can say you were born a UNC and will be one for life good die soon so we can have more Caronlina dead. Why can't people figure this one out.

State has sucked for awhile. We get good again, they'll begin to hate us like olden days. You can't hate what you don't view as a threat.

There's still animosity towards State.... but until we can battle them toe-to-toe in basketball, they aren't going to hate us like they do Duke. It hasn't always been like this

Theres the culprit. Buck is a State student but refers to UNC as "us"....as if she has some financial stock in the Rams club. This seems to be the case with many UNC-WallyWorld fans. They take ownership of UNC's name as if it is an extension of themselves

I grew up in chapel hill and lived there for 18 years... during that time I was a carolina fan and many of my friends were also. No one gave a shit about state. It was all about duke. When I got to State I thought it was kinda weird how much everyone hated carolina.

I was born in 84 so by the time my friends and I started caring about sports State was pretty much a nonfactor. Once we start picking up some W's against carolina I'm sure this will change again. From my experience though, my generation of carolina fans care very little about the state rivalry.

Here's to hoping that changes with the resurgence of state football/basketball.

UNC backers in General Assembly appropriating state funds for new Dean Smith center in '85 (helpful for recruiting) and then appointing a "committee" to "intestigate" the new NCSU basketball arena....eventually getting out of paying as much money for the new ESA center (now RBC)

Book written by UNC fan that made accusations of NCSU recruiting violations and that led to a possible NCAA investigation but NCSU fired Valvano and penalized itself instead...leading the way for DOOK to fill the vaccuum and step up from the 3rd place spot where they inhabited for the 80 years leading up to this.

UNC Kenan Flagler business school's seperate building that has ONE purpose.....to market UNC athletics merchandise.....

That's because it's been 30 plus years since those days. No one under 30 has lived through the time when we last were beating up on everybody (mid-70s). People forget that Jim Valvano was nearly as bad against UNC as Herb Sendek was.

We simply need to win and win often. Honestly, in the age of cable and ESPN I think it's going to be near impossible to reach the Duke and UNC level when it comes to consistency (throw out 2 year periods for each -- 94-96 for Duke and the 2 down UNC years)...

Also, I don't know if you've heard Roy Williams talk about rivalries but he considers State to be UNCs biggest. He's said that on interviews and he also is more charged for the 2 games against us then the 2 Duke games...
