I know there is a million topics on this, but none too recent.
I just opened my new bill and it was $118.50 (Digipic 1000, DVR, RR) this seems way too high!
I called and told them they were supposed to drop it $10 or give me enchanced RR (they called and asked if I wanted the 7 MBps service for free or stay with the 5 MBps for $10 cheaper a month). So I called and now I have RR lite (2.5MBps?), half the speed I was supposed to have for the same price decrease.
Question: What are the other options for Internet and/or cable/dsl in the Gorman Street area. I checked earthlinks website and they say it is not available. I am cancelling the service soon, I cant take the constant price increases for service that doesnt get any better. 1/25/2007 7:34:26 PM |

TWC has RR Lite, which is $24/month, which will save you $15/month since the RR + Digipic 1000 is $40/month for regular RR + the cost for Digipic 1000
RR Lite is 768kbps/down and 128mbps/up, not 2.5Mbps/down
(I know, because I have it)
^^ you have a temporary discount, it doesnt last forever, people that are existing and long time TWC customers have to pay full price

Call and tell them you want to cancel, that you're getting poor service and don't have any intention that much for poor service.
They'll (in theory) send you to customer retention and they'll save you some money. 1/25/2007 10:32:04 PM |

If you can't get dish because your place isn't facing the right direction, ignore my post. But if you're saying your apartment complex doesn't allow dishes you might want to read over this link and see if the rules apply to you: http://www.fcc.gov/mb/facts/otard.html1/25/2007 10:49:26 PM |

most apartment complexes fit this circumstance:
Quote : | "The rule does not apply to common areas that are owned by a landlord, a community association, or jointly by condominium or cooperative owners where the antenna user does not have an exclusive use area. Such common areas may include the roof or exterior wall of a multiple dwelling unit. Therefore, restrictions on antennas installed in or on such common areas are enforceable." |
I've never encountered a place that flat out said you couldn't have a dish. But I have seen plenty that say you can't mount it on the room, or the exterior wall, or on a stand in the common land areas. All of which they are allowed to restrict you from doing.1/26/2007 10:25:48 AM |

Even if the complex allowed dishes......we would have no where to put it.....
WHY WAS THIS MOVED? There are technical aspects.............. 1/26/2007 10:39:09 AM |

I've seen this circumvented several times. Paint bucket + concrete + dish on your apartment porch.1/26/2007 10:53:38 AM |

I hate TWC
I paid for my bill over the phone last month using a card. Well the dumb lady didn't plug the numbers in correctly and i was billed again and charged an invalid account # charge of $27 or something. And they called me leaving me a threatening message saying they were going to cut off my service and then they proceeded to cut it off that day ( i know because my roommate called to tell me it wasn't working). I got the message after work (same day) and called them back and the lady was very rude and wouldn't listen to me. She said there is nothing they can do about the fee and treated me as if i'm an irresponsible kid. Pretty rude considering i've been a customer of their for 5 yrs now and have NEVER been late or missed a payment before.
I know i gave the right # considering i used the card that i've had for 6 yrs now and can recite the number in my sleep. 1/26/2007 11:00:46 AM |

i'm wondering if anybody has tried just switching their account with a room mate? my 6 month promotional crap is going to expire next month i believe, i've been contemplating having my room mate call and setup a time to install RR and cable saying he's moving into a new apartment and have his appointment set up for the day after i shut off cable and RR so we'd only have to go a day w/o but get a new introductory offer. do you think this would work? i know the technician sure as hell wouldn't care. 1/26/2007 11:03:01 AM |

no you will have to pay a fee because you sing up for a year service plan. I am not sure how much it will cost to terminate that. Let me know if you do it and how much the cost are. My cable will be doing the same next month. 1/26/2007 11:06:48 AM |

^ i've never paid a fee before, and i turned off RR in my last apartment because i only had a 6mth lease. i've never heard of signing a year contract with TWC 1/26/2007 11:08:29 AM |

there is no contract with TWC saying that you will have service with them for x amount of time. They just guarantee you a certain rate for a certain amount of time.1/26/2007 11:14:00 AM |

that's odd, considering earthlink is basically time warner. that's what i have, and time warner did the "install" and that's where my bills come from.
i specifically went with earthlink to avoid time warner's bs, i was pretty pissed when i found out they're basically one and the same.
i also couldn't get direct tv because of too many trees on my property. 1/28/2007 8:09:43 AM |
