because despite daily cleanings, my bathroom smells slightly of piss. i dont know what the fuck is going on, i just moved in. the old owner must have fucking pissed everywhere. i would like something neutral or that smells of fresh linen. are those little glade fan deals worth it? or has anyone used the guys that spray puffs of scented oil every so many minutes? 1/26/2007 5:41:15 PM |

have you started off by sufficiently cleaning the bathroom? 1/26/2007 8:13:55 PM |

yes. they are pretty strong. we have one in the bathroom at work (only 6 of us) and it easily spreads out to the adjacent rooms.1/26/2007 8:15:18 PM |

Wizard
or
Ozium
might work. If there's piss, though, you've gotta clean that up. 1/26/2007 8:24:06 PM |

floor was mopped with bleach mixture, everything was sprayed down with clorox spray. walls were even wiped down with bleach. lemon cleaner made it smell good for awhile but it still smells bad. ive cleaned my bathmats i dont really know what else to do. 1/26/2007 8:45:29 PM |

get a blacklight. turn off the lights, turn on the blacklight. well, you might be grossed out, but you will see every stain, spatter, etc. and +++ dust. the blacklight will show you where the nasty places are. good luck. you might want to pester the landlord into changing the tile/carpet/wallpaper in those areas. 1/27/2007 11:30:54 PM |

yeah ^ has a good point ... mildew and such are considered hazardous and while I don't know about success rate I've heard of people getting landlords to do major stuff for living-standard reasons. 1/27/2007 11:37:08 PM |

I'm thinking maybe you have (or had) a leak where the toilet seats to the base. If piss has seeped out there it will get into all the floorboards and it really isn't going anywhere without major work. If the toilet is on a first floor and you have a crawlspace you might want to go under there and take a look for signs of a leak around the toilet pipe (the big drain pipe that the poo actually goes out.) If the wood is discolored, stained, or moist you've got problems.
