How many of ya'll are married? If you're thinking about it, I strongly recommend it for several reasons.

it is for now.

if my wife was working, we'd end up having a tax penalty, assuming standard medical resident salary.

BobbyDigital, when did you get married? countrychick and I got married June 18, 2005.

slackerb, I couldn't count the reasons. There are financial reasons as have been mentioned, but most importantly I am sharing my life with someone who I care deeply for. Yes, we cohabited for a short period of time before we "tied the knot," but its still different. In other words, yes, you can have some of those same feelings with a girlfriend, but after you are married, things change for the better.

Married, love it, wouldn't recommend it for everyone.

Marriage WILL NOT solve your problems. It WILL NOT necessarily make you closer to each other. Just like having a kid WILL NOT solve your problems, not will it necessarily fill any void except the void where a screaming baby is missing.

It changes nothing and it changes everything at the same time. I love my husband, and getting married was one of THE best decisions I ever made. But holy crap, there's no reason to rush into it thinking it's going to make you closer. If you're both fighting and screaming before you get married, it'll be the same afterwards. I see far too many people getting married for the wrong reasons. But yes, if you get married for the right reasons it's awesome.

Only if one of you isn't working. And even then, you'd save more money paying taxes.

^^ Spot on.

My wife & I dated for around 5 years before getting married, so we knew very well what we were getting into beforehand, but nothing drastic changes on your wedding day except you wake up beside your best friend everyday (well, at least for me since we didn't live together before marriage).

But waking up beside your best friend everyday is also pretty much the best thing ever if you're certain that's what you want

I have been married 4 years next month and love it, 95% of the time. Got one almost 3.5 year old son and going to have son #2 in early March.

I've put on 10 or 15 and she's put on 20, but she is 8 months pregnant. I haven't gotten it in a month, but she is in her last trimester. Pwnt. haha

living with someone for the first time is weird, but fun - it is nice to have someone to come home to every night and hang with who actually cares about my day.

Much better than the dogshit relationship that i was too stupid to end from 04-06 where she lived at fucking home in another city.

I have lived w/ my boyfriend since June and we are in the process of house shopping now since the lease is up May 31...

And maybe I'll get engaged this year.

i bought a house with my gf before we were even engaged. Both our names are on the mortgage, and once we get married, we will just get it changed.

why do you say that? we have had absolutely zero problems with it, in fact, our title company even said they would switch the new name in for free once its official.
