did a quick search to no avail - i'll try to keep it quick/simple

my mom got a new laptop (Dell) and asked me to set her wireless network up (with one other desktop, also a dell) - which i had never done, but knew wouldn't be too bad...

hooked it up normally (cable jack to modem, modem to wireless router, ethernet cable from router to desktop) - all setup in the finished basement with road runner service (laptop connection/signal is great - no problems throughout the house)

ever since i did this, the tvs are acting up:
the tv in the same room as the desktop and router is fuzzy (probably 15' away from pc setup)
the tv in the family room on the main floor (one floor up) seems to be fine - but the one in the kitchen is fuzzy (mounted under the cabinet)
the two tvs on the second story (two floors up) are pretty bad - one has basically an all blue screen and the other really fuzzy

according to them, everything was fine before the router was hooked up

also, all cables have been split from main source (none split at wall jack or anything like that)

wondering if anybody has ever had (or heard of) this problem, and know any possible solutions... thanks in advance

Have you tried just disconnecting the power from the router to see if it goes away?

Have you tried multiple video sources? Do they all have the same problem?

well, i haven't tried anything yet... my family is in winston salem and i'm in raleigh - but i was wanting some ideas to tell them to try later this evening (i won't be there again to try and help for about 3 weeks)

as far as video sources, not sure i completely follow, but they only use standard cable for all and only one of the tvs has anything hooked to it... so the only choices would seem to be cable or antenna (sorry if i'm not on the right track with your question)

I would do 2 things first to troubleshoot:

1) Power off and unhook the modem to see if it's the source of interference.

2) Turn off and/or change the frequency of the wireless router to see if it's the source of interference.

my guess is they didn't install a signal booster when the cable company set up the broadband connection. but what ^ is the best way to t-shoot this.

Your cable install guy caused the problem more than likely. Cable splitters usually have a single high quality output and the rest have a greater drop in signal quality. The better line is more than likely hooked up to the cable modem as it needs stellar signal in order to work reliably. Replacing the splitter with a drop amplifier with multiple outputs should fix the problem.

If you explain the problem to TWC clearly then they will probably send a tech out who will install an amplifier for you. They've done it at my house free of charge.
