I've got an Acer AL1916 LCD monitor that I've had since about May. It works fine, but whenever I reduce the brightness below 55-60% it starts to emit a steady, really high-pitched noise from the back of the monitor.

Anyone have any idea what might be causing it, or if there's anything I can do to fix it? I usually keep my monitor brightness as close to 0% as possible -- but the noise drives me insane

cause is probably aging/poor quality components. if it has a 1 year warranty, you should take advantage of that and try to get a new/refurbed because it has issues.

I have a high pitch noise in my LCD, whenever it goes into standby or I turn it off. I have to unplug the power to get it to stop. Tech support said it had something to do with the power inverter? (I can't remember exactly). But if you have that warranty, I suggest you use it.

Changing the refresh rates might help. Too low (60Hz) has caused that on a couple of my CRT monitors.
