So is the world series

[Edited on February 2, 2007 at 11:44 AM. Reason : Winter olympics suck, summer olympics FTW]

PS this is a bullshit way to judge sports brands:

Quote :
"In terms of total revenue, next summer's Olympics will rake in more than any other sporting event, $3 billion. The Beijing Games will leverage their global audience with $1.7 billion from broadcasters, a record for the Olympics.

But because the Olympics cover 17 days, its brand value is $203 million less than the Super Bowl. "

Why is the Rose Bowl so high?

It's the second most valuable INDIVIDUAL sporting game.

I don't know why, but people absolutely LOVE the Rose Bowl and the parade. People will pay thousands of dollars JUST for the parade. That blows my mind, but I see it every damn day. Most of these look spot on really, I would put the Masters in there somewhere as well though.

There is no way Daytona 500 ranks above Indianapolis 500. Indy may be down domestically, but it still draws a good TV audience, draws a larger attendance than Daytona does just cause it has near double the seats, and the international interest (and hence the money there too) of Indy easily surpasses Daytona.

I remember a list detailing what sporting events brought the most economic impact and money to a city and surrounding metro area from I think 2001 (USA only):

1. Indianapolis 500
2. Daytona 500
3. Brickyard 400
4. The Super Bowl that year (I think it was in Atlanta)
5. United States Grand Prix

The reason the Grand Prix is there is cause the people that typically go to Grand Prix spend a ton of money.

Im not too shocked at any of those.

I am surprised to not see "WWF: Smackdown RAW UNCUT" or whatever the hell their big fight is.
Never ceases to amaze me the ratings that wrestling gets....
