This system consists of:

* 2x 300W PSUs * 7x 18.2gig 10k rpm Seagate Cheetah Hot-Swap Drives * XLPSC module * XLEDM module
2x NetApp XL501R-F-03N-A2 Fibre Arrays, with:
* 2x 300W PSUs * 7x 18.2gig 10k rpm Seagate Cheetah Hot-Swap Drives
1x Qlogic PCI Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapter, with HSSDCI to DB9 cable
All five arrays have dual DB9 copper fibre channel loop connectors and intelligent drive health and overheat monitoring. They're fully tested and in great shape, and the disks are all good. Set up as a full RAID 5 system you get well over half a terabyte including a few hot spares! This setup is extremely fast, and perfect for heavy duty database work.
Asking $250 for EVERYTHING!

if the Craigslist deal falls through, what is the lowest you'll let it go for? 2/7/2007 12:33:49 AM |

SCSI FTW folks.... I hope you all realize just how much traffic this thing could handle. If I could afford the power bill, I'd be all over this thing.... I wonder if my advisor would let me stash it in our lab on a top level IP address.....? I'm off to ask questions. 2/7/2007 11:14:09 AM |

Fibre channel is basically serial SCSI, the SCSI and FC versions of Cheetah drives are identical other than slight differences in the controller . . . so that statement is about right.
Obviously this array would do best in an application that requires a lot of throughput.
shanedidona: The $150 from Craigslist is a firm offer, just not sure I want to go that low yet. The next increment up would be $160, else it'll just go to him in a few days. 2/7/2007 11:28:41 PM |

I know this, but that's really grasping for an explanation. I'm hoping it was just a brain fart. 2/8/2007 12:32:31 AM |
