Changed the brakes and rotors on my Accord the other day. Brand new pads & rotors.

Recently, when I started hitting the brakes at low speeds, there's a really harsh grinding "KKHHRRRR" sound. I dont have access to a lift to take the wheels off at the moment. Anyone have any ideas what it may be?


I have done probably 100 brake jobs on various cars (I worked in my dads store/garage for over 10 years)...so I'm no n00b.

us peasant folk use Jack Stands.

haha, i'm just too lazy to jack it up w/ the shitty scissor jack in the trunk...and I dont have Jack stands at my apartment. I never do any mechanical work here.

just use a drill and put it on the end of the screw to jack the car up fast!

it doesn't take that long to jack the car up by hand. 5 mins max.

I didnt touch the rear pads. Just the front.

or a small rock. i've had that happen before. i just backed up pretty fast and jammed the brakes dislodging it.

or maybe there's a midget with a hammer down there... just remove the hammer from the midget and you'd be set!

Took everything apart today...both new rotors had turned blue from being too hot. Put 2 more new rotors on and another new set of brakes.

Test drive....still scrubbed when coming to a stop.

Took everything apart again. There was significant rust buildup on the wheel sensor causing the ABS to engage at low speeds (my best guess).

Cleaned that bad boy off and everything's as good as new.

if your rotors are being overheated it most likely, imo, means that your calipers don't have enough lubrication to properly slide along their pins/bushings i.e. properly release from the rotor when you let off the brakes OR a sticking caliper piston

of course i'm not familiar with accord brakes

did you have to change any shims or anything like that?

May be wrong, but my problem is fixed as of right now. I'l find out when I drive it back to rawlee.
