Just got a call from my mom telling me that my older brother, who doesnt have a license because of multiple dui's just gave my name at a checkpoint in charlotte...... from what my step dad tells me they just gave him a warning and let him go, but knowing my brother I bet that bitch is lying.
What can I do in this situation?
I called the faggot and he doesnt pick up the phone, he works for my mom and my mom should deal with him tomorrow, but knowing my brother he probably lied about not getting a ticket and thats what he's going to tell my mom.
If i get another ticket, i get my licence suspended for 6months... due to previous speeding violations. 2/8/2007 1:16:20 AM |

i'd take a 6 month suspension for my brother, if it saved him from alot of trouble. i know he'd do the same for me.
that's how it should go down with brothers, i don't understand all these siblings these days that hate eachother.
i think my bro/sis are assholes sometimes and i don't agree with alot of stuff they've done, but that doesn't change having their back 100%.

Right, and I'd take the blame for my brother committing rape, murder, and child molestation all at once . You get into some hard areas, you help each other out, but you don't knowingly and willingly shift your irresponsibility to them without their consent.

A DUI is not something to cover for someone. That kid should probably be in jail or rehab. If you really care about your brother prevent him from getting drunk and possibly killing someone with his car. 2/8/2007 8:40:08 AM |

There, fixed that for you...
I love my brothers, and fortunately for me, they're not irresponsible dickbags. If they were, however, it is not my responsibility to fuck up my life just so they can avoid a little discomfort. I don't care if you're family, if you screw up over and over, you have to earn my respect all over again, and the first step is manning up and taking responsibility for your own mistakes. That guy needs to grow the fuck up!
My advice: Student Legal Services is free.

and it sounds more like he is an alcoholic than a douchebag. sounds like a substance controls his life, and you are unwilling to consider that in your perception of him and your decisions about him. therefore id be more inclined to call you the douchebag. the guy needs help, and a decent brother would encourage the parents to help him as opposed to "dealing with him"
you have no idea how many brothers and sisters there are out there who used to be on drugs or alcohol and got abandoned by closed minded siblings. and from the way they talk, that really hurts them because they always cared about their brothers and sisters. luckily my little bro is a good person and stuck by me even when i was a shithead brother.

^^ a lot of assumptions are being made on your part, which I know that you've dealth with death and regret but you still have no reason to assume how my brother is leading his life or if even ive tried to help him and not even considering the fact how much my parents have tried to help him. So I would appreciated it if you would shut the fuck up and keep your comments to yourself.
On that note; no, my brother is not an alchoholic... he just makes stupid mistakes and doesnt learn from them. He's better off now than he was in the past due to a large part in his best friend being murdered in a gang related situation... my brother is an ex gang member. Ive tried countless times to tell him that what he does affects not only himself but my parents who have spent countless dollars on lawyers for him which he promises to pay back but we all know he wont. He's been through rehab for drugs and has been clean since. He drinks from time to time but the decisions he makes while he drinks fuck him over. He just makes careless mistakes, and at times brings other people down with him for no reason... such as in this case. 2/8/2007 10:34:43 AM |

thank you. someone else using a little common sense.
it sounds like we're just getting a really one sided story here imo, but i digress...
siblings are different than friends. you might show a friend some tough love in something like this and let them sink/swim, but you don't ever turn your back on family and give up on them.
bust his ass to make things right in his life, but don't just drop him because he pisses you or does something you don't like. no matter how many times or what it is.
you also need to consider the definition of an alcoholic. from what you've already said, he is one. recovering or not.
this is a whole other topic, but attitudes like what i'm seeing from some of you in this thread is exactly why our society is so self centered and familys are in crumbles.

fuck that dude...my brother and I are as tight as they come...if he wasn't taller and I wasn't so damn good looking I'd say we were twins
I would never ask him to take the fall for me and he would never ask me to take the fall for him on something of this magnitude. if it's a situation like when my parents busted me smoking and then asked me if my bro did as well, you're fucking right I don't dime his ass out and take the blame upon myself. but taking a fall on a DUI is exascerbating a situation that appears is in a downward spiral anyway
it's attitudes like yours that allow people to get by for too long without answering for their actions. it's no wonder there is no accountability in today's society

even if it wasnt a dui any infraction on my record leads to suspension of my license. As I said before, I would take a bullet for my brother but physical harm vs financial and potentially fucking up my future are on two different spectrums of responsibility and love. He's already fucked up his life for the most part, and although my mom has tried to help him financially by giving him a job where he wont get fired he still is irresponsible from time to time on which countless occasions my mom trys to tell him is wrong. You talk about taking one for the team, but I'll be damned if you ever give up your future just to save your brother/sister from paying a fine and losing his license forever.

You most definitely give your family tough love. You help them through the serious times, not by letting them walk all over you and stab you in the back, but by making them take responsibility for their own actions. The only way this guy is going to improve himself is to learn from his mistakes, not drag his family down with him. Tough love is separate and distinct from "turning your back on family". Don't confuse the two.2/8/2007 5:14:08 PM |

Sometimes you have to use tough love. It's not the same as abandoning someone because you can always reconcile. Based on what this guy said it sounds like his bro might need to go to jail.
And as far as taking one for your brother goes...If that were the case then he should have heard it from his brother, not from his mom. It's a spineless bitch move that he didn't get the story from his bro.2/8/2007 6:30:42 PM |

1) Family is not worth this shit. At least not to me. If I had a brother and he pulled this shit when he didn't have a license I'd make him pay. People do NOT LEARN if you don't call them on their shit and let them get caught. This isn't about him dying or shit, this is about him serving time and getting help whether he wants it or not.
There is a fucking reason his license was taken away. Don't defend him for endangering the rest of us. Seriously fuck that shit.
2) If your brother gave a flying fuck about what he did he would have called you himself to apologize. I hear about this family crap and I'm sorry, if my sister shit on me like this I'd force it right back down her throat. This isn't a small thing, this affects your life, your reputation, your ability to work. The mother fucker didn't even know your birthday. That's fucked up.
3) Regardless your brother should have to pay some form of restitution to you but I doubt that will happen. Nothing personal but it sure doesn't sound like your family is in any hurry to remedy the situation. 2/9/2007 8:05:48 AM |

I would do a lot for my brother. But there is a couple of missed points here.
Yes I might take something for him. BUT if he does this shit and doesn't even ask me beforehand or anything, fuck that. If I am there and say "dude, tell them your me", then I am putting my neck out for him and am cool with that.
Second, losing his license could fuck OneNighter up pretty bad. I got a job that is 30 miles from home. I can't take a DUI for my brother if he was being a drunk faggot behind the wheel. I'd personally beat his ass for doing that anyways, but if he got my license suspended and my kids couldn't eat because of him, there would be hell to pay. OneNighter obviously ain't got all that going on, but he may have a job or internship he has to get to, and this could seriously screw his shit up too.
I'd do a lot for my little brother, but my own wife and family comes first. 2/9/2007 9:13:39 AM |
