Anyone else feel like many of these students are like College of Eng dropouts that couldn't endure the curriculum with rigorous course work in mathematics and other technical disciplines?

On a consulting proj atm with a few of them, they dodge data analysis better than Neo dodging bullets... yay a whole weekend of data analysis for me

fairly awful first post, but yeah, lots of them are transfer students

but yo, you gotta stand up and distribute the workload, or else you'll get ran over in the real world too

either that or they began as college of mgmt students and never had the ability to do data analysis in the first place...they must be doing something right though if they have you doing their work for them

Distribute the workload evenly. I'm fairly good at the data analysis, and tend to be one of the two folks who does it in my MBA group. However, I suck at writing a report to go with it. (I can explain results, but suck at making it concise / cohesive). If I can, I ask (not force, ask) somebody else to handle the written portion of the assignment.

And they'll learn. You make decisions without know how to interpret/analyze/read an analysis of data, you'll make your company sink quick. We really don't need more PHB's in the world.

oh I didn't mean the MBA candidates, I know most of them have solid technical background. I meant the undergrads.

I mean duh, it's a well known fact a lot of people go from engineering or science and end up in COM (hence why COM has increased their GPA requirements, especially for people trying to transfer in to the college). Not to bust your balls but all of the COM majors are fairly easy compared to engineering. I should know I was one of those former engineering students (I did good in engineering/3.0, but decided it wasn't for me and switched to COM late).

Some people just duck out in groupwork. They let someone else do the work. I don't think it has anything to do with where they came from- especially as regards former major. It has to do with who they are as a person.

I love when the professors have us fill out team evaluation forms at the end of the semester so they can "adjust" the final grades of team members based on the work they did.

i transferred. however business was also my 2nd choice and i switched after java because i couldn't hack programming. that's right, i do not like programming. and guess what, i love my major now which is probably a damn good thing
