what is the difference?
i have a manual 04 RSX-S and i brought it to True2Form to get it fixed after an accident and this was one of the things that needed to be replaced. On the final estimate, it read "Replace A/M Radiator assy auto trans" and right below that they added 0.2 labor hours for being an automatic transmission. But the thing is my car is a 6 speed manual transmission. So I called them up and they told me there is no difference between an A/M radiator for an auto and a manual. I forgot to ask why they charged me an extra 0.2 labor hours but since im not paying for the repair i dont really care as long as my car is return in excellent condition (esthetically and mechanically). So is there a difference? Should i be bitchin at them?

dunno why they charge the extra time for yout particular car, but most radiators have the transmission cooler build into them and just use the same one for manuals and plug the cooler. i could see the extra charge for hooking up the lines on an auto. i'm guessing they just made a mistake in writing it up.

more than likely no difference.

they probably are mistakenly charging for hooking up trans cooler lines.

thats no mistake. they get to bill the insurance company for time the didnt actually spend on the car. its called fraud.

you dont need to call anyone. especially not acura, since the body shop didnt install an OEM radiator on your car. so none of that matters.

as ivan said, there is no difference in the aftermarket (A/M) radiator for the manual vs. the automatic RSX. True2Form is going to make .2 hours of time off your insurance company that they did not actually spend on your car.

honestly thats all there is to it.

i thought the a/m stands for auto/manual, not aftermarket?

that said, most body shops do not use oem parts unless it's requested and/or the insurance company agrees to it.

Not on a car with over 60k miles on it. You might argue with them on it, and sometimes they will replace a part with OEM if it turns out the OEM part is only within a hundred bucks or less(and usually much less).

actually there is a diff between the two. and the auto rads are more of a pain because of the trans lines. so as a shop i would put the extra time it takes.

i'll be damned if i have ever seen an aftermarket radiator for anything that didnt have an a/t cooler, its just not practical to make them application specific, due to manufacturing and logistics costs

but ended up taking it to true2form who is just an average body shop and is now realizing that he is an idiot for taking it there because reality just slapped him in the fucking face since he now knows his rsx junk doesn't mean shit to anyone else but him so now he's mad he's not getting
