are we a shoe in for the NIT?

i think there are a lot of major conference teams with better records and quality wins that the committee might choose before the pack

Yes. Pretty much every ACC team that finishes >.500 gets into the NIT.

do we get to cut down the NET if we win the NIT?

or is that like framing your javelin after winning the special olympics?

Quote :
"The NCAA announced a revamped selection process starting with the 2006 tournament. The main highlights are:

Teams are no longer required to have .500 or greater records to receive bids. This may have an effect on the last few teams invited. However, in 2006, all teams qualifying for the NIT had a record greater than .500.
All teams that won regular-season conference championships but failed to earn NCAA tournament bids are guaranteed places in the NIT. Thus, more teams from the low-major conferences may qualify. (Mid-major regular season conference champions have traditionally been invited.)
"

Well if we win out and win the ACC Trny. Do we have any shot at getting in the NCAA? I am sure it is a longshot but is it possible?

Ever conference tourney champ automatically makes the NCAAs. If there's no tournament, then they take the regular season champ.

What the NIT rule change is talking about are regular-season champs.

8 straight months of the S&P closing higher -- last time that happened was 1983 -- you know what else happened in 1983...

We won't win the NIT, anyway. We are too inconsistent, and college bball is still dominated by guard play. We'll run in to one team with better guards who can work us the same way teams have been doing all year.
