Just trying to make sure I have this process right.
- Decide on price - Get loan check from bank (if applicable) - Pay for car, obtain bill of sale (and title if they have it) - Get insurance - Get registration - PICK UP CAR
this basically it? 2/28/2007 6:01:18 PM |

Before going to bank call them to get their requirements for applying for a vehicle loan. Some will require paystubs from you and for you to go ahead and place the vehicle on your insurance prior to giving you a loan. 2/28/2007 6:38:40 PM |

You can pick up car before you get insurance and registration, you just need to have insurance when you go to register for a new plate. Also, depending on what state this is for, in NC, you need to have the BOS or title notarized by a notary... You either know a notary person, go to a bank and get it notarized, or go to any dmv title registration place. 2/28/2007 7:07:00 PM |

sorry I didn't include that the loan approval was already done before negotiating price.
buyer and seller both need to be there to get it notarized correct.
thanks guys.

ok I've got the title and everything notarized and signed over, but I went to the dmv site to check and its talking about an odometer disclosure statement and damage disclosure statement, both signed by the seller. Do I really need that?
or wait, he signed over power of attorney to my bank, so they could sign any more documents needed right?
i'm surprised they didn't tell me I needed all this when I went in to get the title notarized to me.

1. no, you don't HAVE to have the odo disc. statement or the damage disc. statement. always good to cover all of your bases (for future reference) and have those docs, but dmv won't ask for them.
2. depends on what the poa says. it's probably a poa specific to the loan transaction, as in if they need seller to sign any loan docs, which can occur in some cases, they can sign on his behalf. they cannot sign the above docs on his behalf. 4/12/2007 1:42:38 PM |

^ & ^^ Damage and odo are on the back of the title unless it is a really old one. 4/12/2007 1:50:17 PM |

thats what I kind of thought, the title document kind of covers everything, maybe not as explicitly, but when I looked at the other documents, it just looked like a bunch of shit already covered.
anyway thanks guys, appreciate it. 4/12/2007 6:56:14 PM |

dont need none of that shit. i bought and sold 5 different cars in NC and was never required to show bill of sale. it is good to have it, but you dont need it.4/12/2007 7:55:31 PM |
