for the test tommorow, can someone help me determine the velocities for jets 2 and 3 on the practice test? we haven't gone over anything in the verticle plane and I'm not sure how to put gravity into the equation.

V=Q/A for pipe 1 (horizontal)

pipe two and three are verticle like this
the problem looks like this
2

1----|
|
3

Q1=0.5
distace from 3 to 2 is 4m
inside d=.12m
jets at 2 and 3 d=.06m

V1=.05/(pi/4 * .12^2)=4.421
V2=6.624 ??how
V3=11.060??how?

use the 2 bernoulli's equations and the from the mass balance you can get another equation Q1 = A2V2 + A3V3

from those three equations you can solve for all the velocities of 2 and 3
