^^yea PLaymakers, its free and good food, lookin forward to it man

^i disagree, Tim Sylvia is a good fighter and im sure he will bring his old ways to the ring to take on a very game Randy Couture who is a smart enough fighter to make the fight both exciting and make Tim have to finish the fight...not that i dont see your point, bud...

[Edited on March 1, 2007 at 8:22 PM. Reason : well shit of course i agree more heavyweights are needed, theyve been workin good on that tho]

This should be good, but there's no way it comes close to the Pride PPV last weekend. That was the best $40 I've ever spent. Definitely better than 2 lapdances.

Sammy's is showing this as well, only $3 for admission. Some friends and I have reserved a couple of tables.

im hopin sylvia goes beack to the way he used to fight and wins

I love Randy Couture, btuhe has nothing to lose in terms of fan respect we all love randy

I think Tim is getting a bum rep nd he deserves better, but hes GOTTA fight like hes hungry

(in other words, if he starts fightin like he did in the ArlovskiIII fight im gonna start rootin for randy big time)

Matt Hughes was unimpressive to me tonight. He won, but he isn't ready for GSP part 2

Randy Coture--way to fucking go. He worked Tims sorry ass from start to finish. He even beat him in his own boxing game. Knocked him down with the first series of punches.

Rich Franklin looked decent. I don't think he will ever be ready for Anderson tho'. Anderson is a class act guy too. He is a great sport. He was very supportive of Rich tonight.

Jason Lambert killed babalu. It's hard to believe babalu faught chuck for a title shot?!?! If you ask me, he dosn't even deserve to be in the ufc. That goes to show how they "hand feed" chuck these sorry dudes.

I didn't pay too much attention to the kampmann fight.

babalu isnt sorry, hes a good fighter

he threw some of the worst knees i have ever seen though'

PROPS TO MY MAN RICH

matt hughes had made it clear that he was going back ot his bread and butter, and thats what he did, no one should have been surprised, he was active the whole time so i didnt have a problem

kampmann was getting the shit beat out of him util he took mcfedries down, mcfederies actually crosses the wrong knee in avoidance of a mount, and kampmann just hopped clear over him and sunk in a head and arm choke, mcfederies was out in about 3 seconds, beautiful choke

babalu fucking sucks. did you see him "attempt" to strike!! he is the worst striker in the ufc. And I thought he was supposed to be this "submission" expert? He looked like pure tee shit tonight!

Matt Hughes put me to sleep. GSP will kill him again.

Rich needs to work on his cardio a little more.

About 30 seconds into the Babalu v. Lambert fight I leaned over and told NoidRoid that Babalu had been training Muay Thai hard by the looks of it. He was throwing knees immediately. He got the takedown and dominated most of round 1 until Lamber landed some nice uppercuts. At the end of round 1 I said it looked like his emphasis on muay thai had messed with his game. He kept dropping his hands looking for the flying kness and got stuck twice. Once at the end of round one and again for the KO.

Franklin was dominant. Silva won't hold the belt long. If he doesn't lose it to Nate Marquardt (supposedly his next title fight based on internet rumors) he will lose to Rich. Rich's ground game looked excellent against McDonald who is better on the ground than Silva. Nice gesture by both Silva and Franklin tonight, clearly a lot of respect between those two.

Hughes was unimpressive and tentative against Lyttle. He should have been able to finish that fight in either round 1 or 2 but didn't. He has no chance against GSP, and frankly I think he'd lose to Karo Parysian, Diego, and Koscheck right now, but I am a Hughes hater.

Randy, well, what can you say. I thought Sylvia would be able to stand back and pick Randy apart. How wrong was I!? Randy did exactly what he said he'd do, push the pace and be more aggressive. Total domination from round 1 to round 5. When people said that Couture had no chance I disagreed. Randy was a smashing machine when he fought at heavyweight. His ground and pound is excellent. I figured if he won it would be by taking Tim down and raining down elbows. I did not expect to see him win the standup portion of the fight. Hella impressive.

Very good card overall and I was pleased with the results (minus Hughes who I hate).

the thing about randys takedowns, was that he didnt just give up after the sprawl or just muscle forward

he used pure wrestling, turning the corner to complete the take downs, which is highly effective against sylvia given the his height and the balance of his weight

I love that frankin finally got to show that he has an excellent ground game in the UFC, ive seen videos of him in other orgs using it, but this is the first time he had to really use it here, so big props to jason macdonald, he seemed composed the whole fight and the kid has balls

Franklin is just out for blood, and just so freakin strong...its kinda scary how good hed be if he actually had a background in any mixed martial art before beginning fighting...i dont even think he played football

Actually, he did play football in high school and picked up martial arts either in college or right after so he could keep doing something athletic.

Yeah, Franklin won a lot of his early fights via submission and he's a BJJ brown belt so he's got very good submissions and passes, he just prefers to bang. When he fights Silva again I expect him to try to stay in a traditional kickboxing match and if they close distance he'll look for underhooks or a takedown. He was doing fine in the standup against Anderson, it was the clinch that game him problems. If they get into a standing overhook/underhook clinch he'll be ok, but if Silva goes for the Thai clinch Rich should take it to the ground and pound on him. I just don't see how Silva will win a rematch, I really don't.

Couture really did put on a clinic against big Tim. It's funny, I was watching Sakuraba fights and highlights today,a nd Saku has the best single leg I've ever seen, but Randy probably showed the best followthrough on a takedown I've seen in MMA tonight. Even when they were on the cage he got the takedown against a guy 50+ pounds heavier. Amazing technique and will.

was this part of the Arnold Sports Classic, or did they just decide to have it in the same town on the same weekend?

I live in Columbus now and it was actually part of the Arnold Classic this year. They changed the name to "The Arnold Fitness Expo" to incorporate UFC as well as some other events.
