is this a real trilogy by the traditional movie trilogy definition?

I got Red and I'm wondering if i need to watch the first two first.

because sometimes they call shit trilogies when the story is not really a trilogy.

like with amores perros, 21 grams, and babel.

There's not a continuous plot between the three, if that's what you're asking. The end of Red won't be as cool if you watch it first, though.

Who the fuck in the history of the world has called Amores Perros, 21 Grams, and Babel a trilogy?

But yeah, watch Red last.

Amores Perros A horrific car accident connects three stories, each involving characters dealing with loss, regret, and life's harsh realities, all in the name of love.

21 Grams A freak accident brings together a critically ill mathematician (Penn), a grieving mother (Watts) and a born-again ex-con (Del Toro).

Babel Tragedy strikes a married couple on vacation in the Moroccan desert, touching off an interlocking story involving four different families.

Sounds Like a Trilogy to me

i dunno, rotten tomatoes' synopsis of babel is all "third installment of inarritu's trilogy including AP & 21G," and so is wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alejandro_Gonzalez_Inarritu at the very bottom. so apparently whoever the movie people are just consider it a trilogy.

Budiss is obviously right if you're going to consider these a trilogy, but they definitely aren't by the standard accepted definition of trilogy... ie original star wars, lotr, indie jones

^^haha

After reading this thread I put these movies on my BB queue and they were wonderful. I think I like Red the most, but all three were pretty damn good.

I also saw that Krzysztof Kieslowski did a 10 episode series, "Dekalog", each episode based on one of the ten commandments. I just put this on my queue also, I was wondering if any of you have seen this series and if it is any good, it had good reviews on rt.

I also hate this new perfect stranger ad on IMDB

i watched a handful of the decalogues. they were pretty good if a little slow. i wouldn't recommend getting all ten of them at once. get one disc, then wait a month or so and watch the next.
