for most consecutive overtime victories:

http://cvac.net/sports/mbkb/2006-07/index

Quote :
"The Barton College men's basketball team became the first team in the history of NCAA basketball (all divisions) to win four consecutive overtime games Thursday night when it defeated Queens University of Charlotte 95-87 to clinch at least a share of the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference regular season title. The Bulldogs, who are 19-5 overall and 16-1 in the CVAC, have won nine straight and 14 of their last 15 games. Barton, the defending CVAC regular season and tournament champ, as well as the East Region winner last season, is currently ranked No. 23 in NCAA D-II.

Barton, coached by Ron Lievense and assisted by Joel Zimmerman, is now 7-0 in overtime games (5-0 on the road). The most overtime games ever played in a season was eight by Belmont Abbey in 1983 and three NCAA D-I schools (W. Kentucky, Portland and Valparaiso). Abbey, a member of the CVAC, was 4-4 in those overtime games. McMurry, a D-III school, went 7-0 in overtimes in 2003.

According to the 2007 NCAA Record Book, Barton is also the first team in NCAA history, all divisions, to win five overtime games on the road in one season.

Barton opened this season with consecutive OT wins over Elizabeth City State (83-82) and St. Augustine's (106-102), then won at 80-73 in OT at Mount Olive on Jan. 18.

The current streak of four straight OT wins includes 94-90 at Chowan, 83-73 at Anderson (2OT), 86-82 vs. Mount Olive and 95-87 at Queens.

Barton is home vs. Belmont Abbey at 7:30 Saturday night.

The Barton women open Saturday's night's festivities at 5:30. The Lady Bulldogs are 18-5 overall and 14-3 in the CVAC and ranked 3rd in the East Region.

Last night's men's game also marked the return of 6-foot-7 swingman Alejo Barovero, who has been out because of hand surgery since December 1. Last year's East Region MVP scored 16 points on 14-of-14 shooting from the foul line.

"

And they just won their second conf. tourny this weekend

dammit they beat Queens College to do it

Queens got publicity like whoa when they made it to the final eight of the NAIA a few years back, which is apparently equivalent to DI's Final Four

awesome stuff here

Quote :
"SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Anthony Atkinson's 3-pointer at the buzzer has led Barton into the semifinals of the NCAA Division II championship.

Atkinson, a senior point guard, scored 32 points as Barton nipped Grand Valley (Mich.) State 83-81 in overtime. It's the ninth time this year that the Bulldogs have won a game in overtime, extending their NCAA record.

Atkinson hit 12 of 18 shots, including 6 of 8 from 3-point range. Barton had 11 3-pointers in 18 attempts in reaching its school record 29th victory.

Dan Redder had 21 points for Grand Valley State.

Barton will take on the winner of the quarterfinal game between Wingate University and California State University, San Bernardino."

Quote :
"SPRINGFIELD, MA -- All-America senior point guard Anthony Atkinson dribbled the length of the court with 4.2 seconds left and swished a buzzer-beating, NBA-range 3-pointer Wednesday afternoon to send Barton College into the NCAA D-II Men's Basketball Elite Eight semifinals with a miraculous 83-81 conquest of Grand Valley State University.

The Bulldogs improved to 9-0 in overtimes, an all-time, all-divisions NCAA record. No team in NCAA history had ever played nine OT games in a single season before, nevertheless won them all. Barton also set a school record for wins. Both the nationally 15th-ranked Bulldogs and Lakers stand 29-5. Barton has won its last 19 games and 24 of its last 25 and will play again at 6 p.m. Thursday vs. Cal State San Bernadino, who beat Wingate. "

glad to see Ant is doing something.

Why'd he get kicked off the team at Campbell anyway?

Gotta give that guy props for taking down the mighty Word of God with Randy Pulley(Missouri) & Cameron Stanley(Wake Forest) as a Sophomore in '01

Yeah exactly, thats because they play 8 divisions instead of 4

thats why in the pic above they are holding the East title trophy and they had just advanced to the final 8

Quote :
""Anthony Atkinson's defensive rebound and subsequent free throw with 1.5 seconds remaining was the difference as the Bulldogs won their school-record 30th game against five losses.

Barton trailed by as many as six points late in the second half but rallied to tie the score at 68-68 with 6:01. From there, the lead changed hands several times.

Junior forward Brian Leggett canned 1-of-2 foul shots to tie the score at 79-79 with 25 seconds left.

The Coyotes (26-6), who hit , missed a jumper and Atkinson, always in the middle of the action, grabbed the rebound with six seconds to go.

He raced downcourt for the winning basket but was fouled by CSUSB's Marlon Pierce with 1.5 seconds. Atkinson hit the first foul shot and missed the second intentionally, leaving the Coyotes with no time for a miracle.

Atkinson had 19 points, matching the output of sophomore guard Bobby Buffaloe while senior Alejo Barovero had a game-high 22 points.

Barton hit 58 percent of its shots but was nearly undone by the Coyotes' 10-of-20 showing from behind the 3-point arc.

The Bulldogs will face the winner of the Winona (Minn.) State-Central Missouri tilt in the second semifinal. Barton lost to Winona, the eventual champion, in overtime in the 2006 quarterfinals.

Since then, the Warriors have won an NCAA-record 56 consecutive games while the Bulldogs prevailed in all nine of their overtime games this season, also an NCAA record.

Saturday's championship is set for 1 p.m. in the MassMutual Center and will be televised nationally by CBS.""

Meanwhile, 34-0 Winona State has not lost in 1 1/2 seasons, racking up their 57th straight win, 90-85 in OT, against 6th-ranked Central Missouri in Thursday night's other semifinal."
