If they truly have the best talent I can't argue with it, since I don't follow lacrosse to begin with there is not much I can say about the rankings. I guess in light of the Henderson incident and the women's basketball team only loss it does speak about the public perception of Duke's athletic programs.

early season lacrosse polls are even more useless than football preseason polls. don't get me wrong, Duke has a good lax team this year, but it's too early to tell much of anything (thou they destroyed Maryland and looked damn good doing it)

i hate to tell you, but a whole hell of a lot of people care about lacrosse. i'm really surprised there haven't been any other ACC schools adding varsity lax in the past 15 years. the sport sure has shit blown up across the country

there are 48 public high schools with teams in NC now, 11 private schools, and 12 club teams...plus Duke and UNC D-1 teams. When I was going through high school and playing club in Greensboro, I think there were about a dozen teams total.

yeah, lacrosse players are really dumb...i mean just look at some of the top 20 teams in the country: Duke, Georgetown, Johns Hopkins, Virginia, Princeton, Navy, Cornell, Army, Yale, Penn...bunch of fucking morons at those schools

Oh just because those schools have lacrosse doesn't mean there players are smart. Duke, Georgetown, Virginia, Princteon, Navy, Cornell, Army, Yale, yep they all have basketball teams. So that means that all basketball players are really smart. Damn that is a stupid argument. I don't know how smart the players are who play lacrosse. I my dealing with sports however the more contact the sport is the lower the brain power of the average player.

^^whatever. not having a football team has nothing to do with having a lacrosse team. you have obviously never played Lacrosse. I've played a ton of sports and the amount of physical conditioning needed for it for the few years that i played was near the top of my list out of any of the sports I played, possibly only second to wrestling for me personally. And yes I played some football.

you sadly underestimate the level that lacrosse has reached in this country. sure, a decade ago it was confined to private schools and the northeast, but it has absolutely exploded recently. there are two pro leagues (indoor and outdoor) now, it's getting in more and more high schools, and more colleges are picking it up as a varsity sport. just because it wasn't around when you were growing up doesn't mean it's in the same state today as it was back then.

am i saying that it has the draw of men's basketball or college football? of course not. but tell the 47,062 people who watched the national championship at Lincoln field in Philly last year that it's not popular and you'll get laughed at
