I think the subtitle is going to be, "Why are we still making Spider-Man movies?" 3/6/2007 10:13:24 PM |

That was cool. One thing, though--and I'm not trying to be a grammar ninja, so don't give me shit--always hyphenate Spider-Man. I think the hyphen is a symbol that was placed there by Stan Lee to represent the duality of the character--and perhaps the duality of us all. 3/6/2007 11:45:44 PM |

i do agree about X3
But it looks like Spider-Man 3 ain't gonna be so great either.
i mean you know they are gonna totally fuck up the whole Venom aspect, the whole Harry comming back as the new goblin or whatever is gonna be VERY GAY, as stated before, it will probably be mostly Peter Parker, less Spider-Man. I don't know maybe I am reading too much into this little NBC preview, but I wasn't all that impressed.
I guess the third installment of the comicbook movies is where shit starts going down hill, look at it... Batman(1989) w/ Keaton was great. Batman Returns(1992) left a little to be desired Batman Forever(1995) total shit bomb
X-Men awesome X-Men 2 again left a little to be desired X-Men 3 Meh
Superman(1978) AWESOME Superman II (1980) Pretty cool Superman III(1983) Meh
Seems this is an ongoing trend3/7/2007 12:22:00 AM |

I'm worried, simply because ending the second flick with "Go get 'em, tiger" made my nerdy heart go all aflutter and if it goes WAY downhill I'm going to be a sad monkey.

Definitely disagree about this. The first X-Men was kinda blah. It's understandable given it had to introduce a lot of characters and the budget was limited, but I have absolutely no desire to watch it again. X2, on the other hand, is arguably one of the best comic book movies ever. The pacing and character development were spot-on. I expected it to suck and walked out of the theater amazed.

I think it's important not to expect the movies to mirror the comics/cartoon. I'm more interested in if the plot developments work in the context of the films. The fact that the movie is might be more Peter Parker than Spider-Man is fine by me. FWIW, some comic book writer said that the Spider-Man world is more about Peter Parker and the complications that arise from him being a superhero than it is about Spider-Man and whoever inhabits the costume. This was said concerning the failure of the clone saga in the comics.
It's a little early to judge the Harry Osborne thing. I don't know how they'd make it more than a "you killed my father" thing, but clearly that clip isn't the end of the plotline. If nothing else, it looks like we'll get a good action sequence out of it.3/7/2007 3:53:06 AM |
