nah, no future

they only have the vast majority of internet technology market share

their equipment is shitty too, hardly ever sell and routers and switches these days

i don't really think that knowing how to use those sort of things will be important in the future

this internet/networking thing is just fad

I think ^ covered it pretty well.

That and you can't expect much more than minimum wage even with a CCIE

Do you think we forgot the threads you created trying to study for the certifications? Stop spamming places besides chit chat with your shit.

anyone else taking their IE in the next few months? Anyone have any good links to study material for the lab? I heard there was a good netmasters package, but havent really seen the actual materials.

Yeah, CCIE = poor man

i doubt i'll be taking it in the next few months- but I'd definitely be interested in setting up a study group.

I guess that's a sort of subjective question

Let me know if you guys would be interested in one or two nights a week. Who would have the best study lab on campus? Mondays and Tuesdays suck for me, but I'm game Wed or Thurs.

I told somebody I wanted to get my CCNA, and they handed me a mop and said it was a faster route to the top

I've been thinking about trying that too. I have 0 experience with the Cisco MDS switches and EMC storage though and I have a feeling that would kill me. All my experience is with Brocade, McData, and Qlogic switches and IBM storage. I might pick some equipment up off eBay and take a couple months off this summer to try it though.

if you haven't used an MDS, then yea, you are gonna be hosed, I've used brocade/mcdata/mds with emc storage, but there is just so much crap to cover on that test that i still haven't even started to look at (tape, mainframe, and some of the other advanced stuff). Isn't there a cert for brocade storage though ?

Brocade offers several certs. I read an article within the past week that ranked average salaries of people with various certifications. Brocade certifications made up the second and third highest paid professionals iirc. They also had a third cert that was in the top 10.

I'd buy an MDS and some EMC storage if I get serious about taking it. I don't want to give the impression that I underestimate the difficulty of a CCIE at all. I know a few of them and they all worked their asses off for it. Most failed the lab part at least three or four times before passing. We're fortunate to have a test lab so close by (RTP.)

Should have said "ranked average salaries of people with various storage certifications." Sorry.
