See above.

I have searched google and a few sites say that this is a common problem with laptops. From what I read it sounds like the the connection of the battery adapter has come off the mobo and that it might be able to be fixxed if i reattach it and if that doesn't work then I need a new mobo.

Does this sound correct? What is the cheapest option of getting this fixed?

One place mentioned getting a docking station that will allow me to charge the battery through the station.

There are a few people on here with the soldering skills to fix this for you. Ask around and maybe they will offer up their services.

^ Be gentle with it. This is why the newest macs have the cool magentic power cords.

This is a dumb question, but are there any laptops that use USB for the AC connection?

If anyone has laptop power connector issues, other laptop hardware issues, cosmetic damage or anything of the like, shoot me a PM and I'll take a look at it for a fair price.

Not all laptops have the power connections soldered to the board - IBM uses a separate piece that connects to the motherboard and is replaceable. You have to pretty much remove the motherboard to get to it so it's still going to be pretty expensive.
