I dont care...we were in danger of not making the NIT before the tourney. Should be a good field this year though at least.

only 32 teams make it to the nit so we'll probably be 33 or 34.

NIT-ology has us as the 3rd-to-last team in. The #7 and #8 seeds (of 8 in each region) are all automatic bids, for teams that won their conference in the regular season, but didn't make the NCAA tournament. We're no lock to get in.

i call bullshit on that. our record was bad, but it wasnt nit bubble bad. and that ignores our run in the tourney.

I have no idea when the dates are for NIT, but isn't there also the possibility that a game could conflict with the first and second rounds of the women's NCAA so we wouldn't get a home game?

unless we just cram in reynolds haha

NIT-ology has all the teams in the tourney as locks; they didn't leave anyone on the bubble.

(projected) 5 seeds
Utah State
U. Mass.
Washington
App. St.

6 seeds
Akron
Iowa
NCSU
Providence

(7 and 8 seeds are automatic bids)

Out
LSU
Mizzou
Cal
San Diego St.
Hofstra
Oklahoma
St. Louis
Nebraska
U. Conn.

In one year UConn went from prohibitive NCAA title favorite to not even making the NIT.

i know there's no chance of it, but I think it would be hilarious if ASU snuck in and got matched up w/ State

and yes, if that magically happened, I would root for State

I worry about our team being fatigued and banged up for the first round, not to mention having an understandable emotional letdown.

I know what's caused the confusion here. Note, you guys need to clarify who you are talking about. Instead of using ASU to refer to Arizona State or App. State, use Az. St. or make them the designated ASU, and only refer to Appalachian State as App. State, App., Appy State, etc.

haha in the matter of 4 or so mins everyone was ringing in on the confusion.

^^ I think its safe to say that ASU = Arizona State, most of the country has never heard of App. State (might have a little bit from football the last few years, but i doubt it)

if we can get 2 NIT wins that would be 20 wins for us. That would be a pretty big accomplishment IMO with what was said at the beginning of the season.

i agree a 20+ win season with a team that had many people leave would be great. Also, only one of Herb's recruits stayed to play for the pack too... Not much, but Horner. Now bring in Lowe's recruits and the fact he did what he did will help him recruit more.

I see a bright future for the pack, especially if we make a solid run in the NIT

6-seed vs. Drexel.

Does that mean we have an away game up in Philadelphia?

We have the least wins...for an NIT team? Geez, that hurts.

THIS will be a good game. Drexel has to be thinking "WHAT DID WE DO WRONG?" Snubbed from the NCAA and then are relegated to a 3 seed in the NIT and have to play a hot ACC team...OUCH
