This German film won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film over Pan's Labyrinth. I've always loved Cold-War era movies and this is a great one. Coincides well with news in America and Russia.

Currently playing at Galaxy Cinema 1:00, 4:00, 7:00, 9:45 for this week and next.

i liked it. the end was a little bit cheesy, but good all in all.

the guy pictured totally reminds me of a german kevin spacey -- even his mannerisms.

aha, you are so right. Now that you mention it thats all i can think about. The three endings of this movie were definitely the worse part.

^ HUGE overstatement...but it's good.

I think it's playing at the Colony again for some reason. Check it out.

German Star Mühe Dies
German actor Ulrich Mühe has died. He was 54. Mühe, the star of Oscar-winning film The Lives Of Others, died at his home in Saxony-Anhalt Germany, on Sunday. He had been receiving treatment for stomach cancer. Despite his illness, Mühe flew to Hollywood with director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck in April to see The Lives Of Others win the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. He also won the Best Actor prize at the European Film Awards in 2006. He is survived by his wife and their two children, plus another child from his earlier marriage to actress Jenny Grollmann.

Man that sucks. He was really good in the movie and I just saw him in Funny Games as well.

I finally caught this the other night. I enjoyed the hell out of it, though they could have done a bit more to explain why he was willing to betray the Stasi.
