I don't know why he wouldn't wait. If Noah comes out this year, BB will prolly go 4 at the absolute best. If he waits till next year he could possibly be #1. This all if Oden and Durant also enter, and from the sound of Oden on PTI today, it sounds like he might stay for another year or two. 3/13/2007 8:04:14 PM |

nevermind...you can pretend it didn't happen
big baby shouldn't be top 5 if noah leaves...maybe not even top 10 considering lsu's flop of a season.

He will be late first probably.
If he was good enough to be a lottery pick his team would be at least in the NIT. 3/13/2007 8:14:35 PM |

Thats what I'm saying, but he said he needs more time to mature from a kid into a man. Either way, they said whenever he leaves, he will be the #1 pick, so it really doesn't matter. 3/13/2007 8:33:37 PM |

Maybe he just wants to work on his game some and not become the next Kwame Brown. Imagine how good he would have been had he gone to college for a year or two. 3/13/2007 8:41:23 PM |

haha god theoffice, maybe you should stay in entertainment
first you not only acted as if davis would not only go in the 1rst round, not only go in the lottery, but could go in the top 5 this year and 1 next
and i am mostly saying this from conjecture and guesswork and if oden really does stay, there is a minor chance i am wrong (or maybe he just saw the benefits of college, who knows)
BUT
dont get it twisted, Oden went to college b/c he HAD to.
and if he really doesnt go pro, he is obviously immature or he has a VERY good insurance policy. its not like his draft status could be higher
oh and as it stands, i wouldnt say he is lock for #1, but he is def a lock for top 2. just depends on the intelligence/slyness of the gm's w/ the 1 and 2 pick 3/13/2007 8:53:46 PM |
TheOffice Suspended 2343 Posts user info edit post |
I said AT BEST he would go #4. I didn't say he would go #4, thats his best possible option. However, if he stays in college another year, and has a great year like he did last year, he could be a high pick.
^Did you watch PTI today? There was a whole interview they talked about that Oden gave where he needs to mature some more and has a need to grow. They also talked about how he is a very shy guy and stays away from the limelight. I'm not saying he definatly is gonna stay, but from the way he has been talking in interviews, it sounds like he just might.

gad at best he COULD be #1
i mean that is a true statement
but it is still absolutely ridiculous 3/13/2007 8:57:40 PM |
TheOffice Suspended 2343 Posts user info edit post |
No, because there is no way in hell he is going above Oden, Durant, and Noah IF they come out. There is no way he would ever go #1 this year.
Its kinda like the whole thing with Jamarcus Russell, he had a good year in football, and torched up a bowl game, now he most likely is gonna go #1. If BB has a good year next year and another badass tourney, he could possibly go #1 or at worst top 5. Its not like this is some insane thing that could happen.
btw, are you honestly saying he wont even go in the first round this year?

there is no way in hell he would ever go 4 either
but it is equally as possible as your statement
who knows i'm not an nba gm (obviously since i have some bball knowledge, i guess you could be one)
if davis goes in the lottery i'll post a thread saying i'm an idiot
but dont worry, i won't ask you for a similar deal 3/13/2007 9:01:08 PM |
TheOffice Suspended 2343 Posts user info edit post |
I never said he would go in the lottery. I said his best possible option this year is #4 if all those guys come out. Most likely he will go around 15.
However, if he stays another year, and dominates, he can improve VASTLY.

the difference between oden and kwame brown is that oden already has the physical tools to dominate the center position, kwame was more of a power forward drafted on potential

Quote : | "NEW YORK -- LSU junior forward Glen Davis told SI.com on Tuesday he is "leaning toward turning pro," but -- contrary to earlier reports from a source close to the team -- has not yet officially decided to enter the NBA Draft.
"I'm collecting the facts this weekend to make sure the situation is good enough to enter the Draft," Davis said. "If I like what I hear, I'm going pro, but the option of coming back to school for my senior year is still open."
Davis said he tentatively plans to make his announcement on March 21 in Baton Rouge. While he has not settled on an agent, a source told SI.com that Houston-based representative John Hamilton of Performance Sports Management was the most likely candidate. The 6-foot-9, 295-pound Davis is currently projected as a second-round pick by DraftExpress.com and NBAdraft.net.
The "Big Baby," as Davis is known, helped lead LSU to the Final Four in 2005-06 and won SEC Player of the Year honors that season. He battled a myriad injuries in his junior year as the Tigers struggled, finishing 17-15 (5-11 SEC) and being left out of both the NCAA tournament and NIT fields.
After sitting out LSU's 66-56 upset of SEC champion Florida on Feb. 24 with a thigh injury, Davis returned to the lineup in time to power the Tigers to a first-round upset of Tennessee in their conference tournament. Davis said he "turned into some animal" in that game, scoring 25 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. LSU was blown out 80-60 by Ole Miss the next day, and was left out of the 40-team NIT field on Sunday night.
Despite their lackluster record in 2006-07, the Tigers could still contend in the SEC next season even if Davis is no longer around. They'll be led by two starters from the '06 Final Four team -- point guard Garrett Temple, one of the nation's best on-ball defenders, and small forward Tasmin Mitchell, a former McDonald's All-American who was LSU's second-leading scorer at 14.5 points per game. Filling Davis' position in the post would likely be five-star recruit Anthony Randolph, a 6-10 forward from Dallas who is rated the No. 17 overall player in the Class of 2007 by Rivals.com." |
I guess it isn't necessarily a done deal.3/13/2007 10:12:51 PM |

no it's a done deal...his coach even said so...what isn't for sure is whether he'll get an agent.
Quote : | "LSU's Glen Davis will announce at a news conference next Wednesday that he will declare for the NBA draft, but a decision on whether he will sign with an agent and forgo his senior season is still undecided.
LSU coach John Brady told ESPN.com Tuesday that he and Davis were to meet next week after he returns from recruiting to finalize Davis' plans and his academic schedule for the remaining three months of the second semester. Under the new Academic Performance Report rules, schools are imploring students who declare for the draft to finish the second semester so they leave school in good standing. If they don't, it can cost a school a scholarship in future seasons.
Brady said Davis is going to meet with agents this week to see if he wants to sign with one.
Davis was the SEC player of the year in 2006 and led the Tigers to the Final Four. But this season injuries limited him to 29 of the team's 32 games. He still led the Tigers in scoring with 17.7 points and 10.4 rebounds. But LSU struggled mightily in the SEC, finishing in last place in the SEC West at 5-11, 17-15 overall. LSU wasn't invited to the NCAA or NIT.
Brady was heading on the road to recruit a point guard, something the Tigers were lacking all season long, even more so when Tack Minor was dismissed midway through the SEC.
Davis will likely be the first to officially declare for the draft, but hardly the last. NBA scouts and general managers expect a record number of underclassmen to declare for the draft this spring." |

If he played another year he'd have a decent shot of going in the first round.
