I have a '98 Jeep Cherokee, and it occasionally squeels from the forward region of the car, its not the breaks and I just recently replaced the serpentine belt. Any Ideas? 73k miles if its any concern. Thanks in advance

Recently replaced serpentine belt. Did you tighten it shortly thereafter? Mine stretched out a bit after they did some work on my car 2 years back and it squealed like fuck. Tightened it, squealing went away.
When does it squeal? Like, when you accelerate, when you turn, etc? 3/17/2007 10:33:00 PM |

Yeah, it's just stretching out. Mine was fine for a week, then didn't stop squeaking.
Took it back, they tightened it (belt tensioner as Igor said), and the problem is gone forever.
It's normal, should be a free fix too. 3/17/2007 10:59:48 PM |

automatic tensioner on the cherokee if i remeber correctly. needs to be replaced if that's the problem. you just need the pulley with the bearing, but they might only sell it as an whole tensioner unit. 3/17/2007 11:05:57 PM |

When my roommate's Trooper was squealing he put motor oil on it.

dont know where to post this, but does anyone know how easy it is to get 3 dents in the hood removed from an old bmw? is this somethign that can be easily fixed? they are 3 moderately sized dents, like the size of a grapefruit 3/18/2007 2:15:38 PM |

probably be better off just getting another hood and having it painted. dents that big will take some work, and probably exceed the cost of another hood. 3/18/2007 2:47:55 PM |
