I want to buy a used halliburton zero briefcase on ebay and polish it. I dont think they are anodized, more like a clear coat. what would I need to get started? I have several grinders and drills, palm sanders, but no random orbit polisher. what grits of paper or rouge would you start with? 3/24/2007 10:15:16 PM |

Well if it is annodized you have to remove the anno first, the easiest way to do that is some simple oven cleaner (that what I do to remove the anno from motorcycle fork tubes before polishing) 3/25/2007 9:02:14 AM |

I found one of those at a thrift shop for $5. It had stickers all over it
The one I have is definitely not anodized. Looks like brushed aluminum with a thin clear coat.
I removed the stickers and then lightly sanded with the 'grain' to make it look half decent. Doesn't look like new but at least the finish is regular now. They take a beating, if you can pick one up for a decent price get it.
