I've been playing drums for over 10 years and have never owned any congas. I was interested in getting some and was curious if any else out there had any? I'm looking in the price range of up to $250-300. I don't know whether to get just 1 or a set of 2 with a stand. or what brand to get for that matter.
Any other drummer out there that could help me with my decision?

I prefer Latin Percussion equipment, but Toca makes some good stuff, too. If you want to keep your dollars local, 2112 will always "work with you."

And you can find good deals at Waddell's Drums:

And many others. Buy a couple related DVDs, too--they will help you to develop your technique. 3/26/2007 11:11:46 PM |

my friend graduated from the music school at uncg and he got a killer djembe made in the cote d'ivore (sp?) through a hand precussion instructor there. i remember him saying that it wasnt very expensive, but having played drums for a while, you can tell by the sound that it was an excellently made drum - far better than most that you get around here in regular music stores and for about the price that you were looking for i think. 3/27/2007 6:54:08 AM |
