He's already eyed up Ricky Hatton for his next fight. And Floyd Mayweather doesn't have to prove anything, He is ranked pound for pound #1 in the world and is undefeated. Beating an old fighter with no knockout power and no belts won't help him, and won't bring any $ in.

they've released the undercard for this fight:

Featherweight Rocky Juarez (26-3, 19 KOs) v Jose Hernandez (22-3, 14 KOs) in the 12-round co-feature

Rey "Boom Boom" Bautista (22-0, 17 KOs) v Sergio Manuel Medina (28-0, 16 KOs) 12 round junior featherweight title eliminator

In addition to the televised bouts, Golden Boy also announced that Billy Dib of Australia will face Jose Gonzalez of Los Angeles in a 10-round junior lightweight bout. Also on the card will be junior welterweights Rock Allen, a 2004 U.S. Olympian, and Ernest Johnson in eight-round fights against opponents to be named.

My heart wants to see De La Hoya win just because I've always liked the way he fights, plus Mayweather just irritates me.

My head however, says that De La Hoya is in it to keep his name and promotional company out there, and that this is all about the money. Combine that with the fact that Mayweather is at his peak, and a good enough defender to keep De La Hoya from mounting a sustained attack. Most of De La Hoya's knockouts have come from him being able to land punches in quantity over time, he's rarely scored big one punch KO's.

Mayweather has claimed that he is retiring after this fight and that he has nothing left to prove. I doubt that's the case with Hatton, Cotto, and Margarito all around his weightclass. Two other unbeaten fighters, and one of the most underratted fighters in the sport. All have titles. Assuming he wins this fight, he's walking away from a fortune if he actually retires. Then again, I guess that's easier when you're rich. Although I wouldn't be at all surprised if it is just a ploy to drive up the price for his next fight.

I don't remember De La Hoya having a good fight since he went up against Vargas 5 years ago. He's one of my favorite fighters of all times and I'd love to see him win this one, but his age is catching up with him.

i'd love to see de la hoya win this fight as well because someone needs to shut mayweather's big mouth and give him an ego check. the only problem is, i don't think there's anyone out there right now who can do it, including de la hoya. and all this talk about retiring afterwards because mayweather would have nothing else to prove is a joke. he's still in his prime and will be around for a while longer. now what if mayweather had fought de la hoya during his prime? that would've been a great fight

Floyd has already hinted he is going to fight Ricky Hatton next, assuming he wins this match easily and there will be no rematch. No way floyd nexts DLH out though.

I hope that happens. I've said ever since I saw Hatton beat up and demoralize Kostya Tszyu that he has the best chance against Mayweather. However, for that to be an interesting fight, I think it needs to happen at 140 not 147. Hatton just didn't look like he had a big enough frame to have the same sort of power at 147 that he's shown at 140. Eitherway though it would be interesting to see how Floyd would deal with someone that is committed to going to the body, and has a proven chin and decent offensive skills. The last person like that I saw him fight was Jose Luis Castillo and a lot of people still think Mayweather got a gift in their first fight.

I hope your right, but I just don't see Mayweather vs. Hatton being close. Hatton looked old in his last fight, and even in his prime he would be outmatched by Floyd's speed. But it would be awesome to see if Floyd would be willing to fight him in England. Would be huge over there especially, if they were both still undefeated. But, Floyd's probably not stupid enough to do that.

De la Hoya is a great boxer I will cheer for him over Floyd...but someone already said it on here-that De la Hoya has not fought a "great" fight in some years...But damn how nice will it be to see De la Hoya knock that arogance and attitude of Floyd...I don't want to see a decision or a stoppage-I want to see I knock out!!!

De la Hoya has one more in him....

I could have sworn that on the flyer on the 5 O'Clock sports bar next to Melvin's that they advertised that they would be showing the fight.
