Its a Compaq nx7010, it has three USB ports. I have an optical mouse I've been using for testing, and on two of the ports the red light comes on, but the mouse doesn't work. One the third port I don't even get a red light. I've also tried flash drives with no luck.

All three ports are showing up in device manager as being installed (there are 4 USB Root Hubs, 3 Intel USB Universal Host Controllers and 1 Intel USB2 Enhanced Host Controller). There aren't any ! or ? next to the devices, and all say theyre working properly.

First I tried uninstalling all those USB listings int he device manager and rebooting...didn't work. I just reinstalled XP Pro with appropriate drivers (incl chipset) but that didn't work either. I still get all the listings in the device manager, but get the same results as listed in the first paragraph.

Any ideas or are they just dead
