every state differs in each sport, but if your going to combine them all, it goes to California just because there are so many teams. (UCLA, Lakers, USC, Raiders, 49ers, Team Phillip, etc..)

and way to name teams that all suck now

if you are talking all time you obv have to include NY(on the strength of the yanks alone) Mass (on the strength of the Celtics alone) and Cali (you didnt even mention ucla you idiot)

If you're talking about all time best... Maryland wouldn't be on the list.

If you're talking about just recently then... Maryland woudln't be on the list.

Stupid thread, but I will go along with it for now...

All time top 3 for reasons of both now and historyically, New York (Yanks, Rangers, Knicks*), Cali (USC, UCLA*, 49ers*, Dodgers*, Lakers, to name a few), FL (Dolphins*, Gators, 'Noles)

Although I feel that if there were actually research on which state has the most championship titles in nba, nhl, mlb, ncaaf, ncaab that Florida wouldn't make the list.

* represents older greatness

there have been a number of articles ranking the best sports states based on a number of factors (like # of pro teams, championships, professional players produced). go look them up.

I'm assuming you just don't know what subjective means...

Anyway, lets just compare Maryland to North Carolina (who I don't think is a dominant sports state... only good in bball) since you want me to be impartial...

Maryland's recent(all time) titles:
MLB: 0(3)
NCAAB: 1(1)
NFL: 1(1)
NCAAF: 0(0)
NHL: 0(0)

NC's recent (all time) titles:
MLB: 0(0)
NCAAB: 3(10)
NFL: 0(0)
NCAAF: 0(0)
NHL: 1(1)
NBA: 0(0)

And this is ignoring the fact that NC has dominated college soccer for the past decades.

So by numbers NC has more titles than Maryland and I wouldn't even put NC on a list of most dominant sport states. That's me being impartial as much as I can.

those stats are off the top of my head for the most part correct if you wish.

Using that criteria it's gotta be New York. 34 mlb titles, 8 nhl titles, 2 nba titles, 1 super bowl (and other nfl championships mixed in that I did not include), 1 ncaab title. Total of 46 titles.

new york owns MLB

cali and carolina and kentucky own college bball (ucla 12(?)), kentucky7/louisville2, unc4duke3ncsu2

college football...maybe michigan (michigan, msu) or indiana (nd) or cali (usc, ucla)

BeetsNrithem is in a state of delusion...that seems pretty dominant.

Florida isn't number 1, either New York or California are. Florida wouldn't even rank third.... I'd go with:

1. New York (Yankees, Mets, Dodgers [old], Giants [football & baseball], Knicks, Rangers, Syracuse, Harlem Globetrotters [laugh if you want but they rarely lose], and boxing at Madison Square Garden)

2. California (UCLA, Dodgers [relocated], 49ers, USC, Raiders, Rams [Gabriel's years], Cal, Stanford golfer Tiger Woods, and the LA Lakers)

3. Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh Steelers [5 sb titles], Penn State University, Pittsburgh Pirates [5 ws titles since 1903], Philadelphia Phillies, horse racing)

Maryland sucks ass. The Ravens defense is only tough because a majority of their d has served time in the pen. I roll my eyes at the Orioles (spelling also must be dominant in MD), since they've won 3 world series titles since 1944! And don't get me started on the "University" of Maryland. One ncaa title in basketball and the entire state thinks their shit is made of gold.

Go back to D.C.'s hazardous waste dump and don't bother the real world again.

Thank you for playing. Bye!

Are you all considering the Redskins in Maryland or saying DC is it's own entity. Considering the stadium is in Landover, MD. Just a thought. That would take superbowl wins up. But I agree Cali #1. But then its a toss up between Texas and New York. Spurs. Cowboys, and UT are all pretty dominant. But the Yanks have won a ridiculous amount of titles. 27 I believe.

^^ I actually counted the titles for New York for teams that played those seasons within the state borders (thus the 2 giants super bowl don't count but the jets did and the ny giants and brooklyn dodgers world series wins do).

I had no idea Maryland had such a sports-rich history. All this time I thought they only caught crabs and wacked each other with sticks. I mean who cares about Kentucky, North Carolina, Texas, Pennsylvania, New York, and Michigan. Yeah.... Maryland....

JWHWolf gets an 'atta boy' with Pennsylvania. I didn't think of them, but you are correct, they should be higher on the list. I think NC would make the top 10.
