you can even do a pull up on the rim, touch the rim with both your feet and slap the backboard w/ both hands w/ no worry of being T'ed up*

In all fairness, I have seen other teams/players T'd up for this, even if I have never seen an NC State player NOT called for it. It should be a technical foul every time.

I echoed these exact same sentiments when watching the game last night.

No one seemed to know what i was talking about.

Bennerman got T'ed up on 50% of his dunks for no reason and then Oden is allowed to do that??? Unreal

I bet he palms the ball everytime he dribbles too

or, wait, I got it, he never makes a clean block and everytime he contests a shot he should be called with a foul

you motherfuckers complain about every single person on a team that you dont like (see: Tyler Hansbrough and Josh McRoberts). You win some you lose some, Oden gets away with some fouls, but he also gets called for a lot of questionable fouls. To say that 'his name' keeps him from getting called for fouls is ridiculous, he is under the refs microscope all game - every game. Hell, he got called for 2 fouls within the first 8 minutes of the game last night

If Oden got called for fouls he should, OSU wouldn't even be in the Final Four

^blah blah blah. He gets his fair share of fouls called against him for VERY minor shit... just like almost every player does. Also, he probably was fouled more than most any player in the Big10, but only half of them were called. It's the case w/most centers that b/c they are bigger, all the bumps they take appear smaller*

Here's the rule book:

IXI. Slapping the backboard

Article 1: Slapping the backboard is not a foul outside of the conditions described below.

Article 2: If team is NC State, slapping the backboard is a technical and a minor NCAA rules infraction.

right but you completely missed the point. he did that once and i purposely didnt mention him, like i said you were the first one to mention him and act all persecuted. my point was that EVERY player does shit like that but the only ones who get T'd have NC State on their jersey.

if your coach throws a hissy fit, tears up his paper, and throws it on the court... you might get a technical.

Wiping the sweat off of the floor after a timeout will get you a technical (Apparently)

Look most threads of this sort are "whiny" but in this case the point is valid.

The following are all statement of facts.

NC State has had some of the most egregious calls in the history of sports go against them in the past few years.

1) A technical foul on a team manager WIPING water off the court in the ACC tournament. This just happened to occur right in the middle of a Maryland surge. The referee was suspended from the rest of the tournament for this ridiculous call.

2) A flagrant foul on Marcus Melvin that just happeed to occur right in the middle of a Vanderbilt surge in the NCAA tournament. The crazy thing is the Vanderbilt player initiated the contact and Melvin was trying to avoid the foul altogether. The collapse was of Herbic proportions anyway but it would have most likely been a win if not for such a blatantly ridiculous call.

3) A 15 yard penalty for Brian Clark extending the football into the end zone to score a game winning TD against Georgia Tech. Clark was at the end of an ~80 yard romp and was trying to make a gamewinning play. In the meantime we were treated to sommersaults (sp?) by Reggie Bush into the end zone all season long

4) Several technicals on dunks (bennerman comes to mind instantly the time he held onto the rim for a fraction of a second to avoid killing himself and taking out approximately 200 bystanders)

NC State REALLY does have an argument when it comes to ridiculous slights.

^The Phantom foul on Julius Hodge (Caron Butler) when we should have beaten UConn the first time

He hardly touched him...still, you don't call that

Hell, the worst in NC State history (Probably NCAA tournament History).... the Chris Corchiani 'travel'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1ts6TLXVwA

( I realize these arent technicals/flagrants.... but it gets ridiculous after awhile)

Was that the time when Melvin was trying to chase down a guy who had gotten away and the guy slowed up in the paint and Melvin couldn't stop? Melvin even threw his hands up trying to show he was trying not to hit the guy, but couldn't stop.

That crap happened all the time with Bennerman. They didn't seem to understand that if a man jumps from the FT line that he has a little thing called momentum.

^ yes and the play is on youtube if you need a refresher. Even the announcers agree its a HORRIBLE call and the replays clearly show the Vanderbilt player initiating the contact as Melvin tries to avoid the foul.

A foul is one thing, but flagrant is an incorrect call period.

The Corey Maggette thing was totally different. Elton Brand put a handprint on the top of the backboard at the beginning of warmups. He told Corey to find a way to wipe it off during the game so Maggette pulled himself up on the rim and slapped the top of the board. He was ejected from the game because of this and another technical he got either before or after.

What about the horrible call two years ago against BC when Engin was clearly inbound and got called for being out of bounds when pictures show him a good 6 inches in bound. That call cost us that game and further hurt our seeding in the ACC and NCAA tourneys.

Seeing the contact clearly enough to decalre who initiated can be hard given floor position so I just assumed when it was about to happen, it would be a foul. But, I could not believe they called aflagrant for that crap.

that sucked too.

those calls tend to happen though but blatant misapplications of the rule (brian clark & cam bennerman)

random technicals on waterboys (ACC tournament) that lead to suspension of duties

and out of nowhere flagrant fouls on incidental contact (melvin)

Those are what merit true complaints.

Here is the link to the Melvin flagrant foul. Utterly ridiculous http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_liZI68U6Xw&mode=related&search=

I was just trying to find this. All I found was one where he made one from underneath the other goal. I suppose it was taken from an Australian or European game.

Fouling a three point shooter TWICE

that ridiculous rimmed in three pointer

then the flagrant foul call that almost makes the game appear fixed

That was Herb in a nutshell though. Good riddance.
