Continuation of message_topic.aspx?topic=452091.
I've been practicing almost every day for the past month using this book:
.
So far it has taught me how to read sheet music somewhat, and I've learned fingering techniques. It's going slowly, and I am discouraged that I haven't learned anything specifically "flamenco" yet (the book focuses purely on classical styles.
I've found a teacher finally who will teach me classical guitar, but unfortunately his lessons are $34 per half hour, which is a little steep for me especially with my financial situation at the moment.
I've also considered signing up for http://www.flamenco-lessons.com. The few videos shown make it seem like an okay deal.
My goal is to play like this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Arn99rAAgX4

Yeah, that's the "fun" part. It's such a daunting task, but when I finally get a rasgueado that sounds perfect it's worth it. 4/3/2007 5:55:23 PM |

i figured out how stupid i was last night after i left the theater.
just put your first finger on the first fret on the g string. played the highest four strings.
that's it
d (open) - g# (1st finger) - b (open) - high e (open)

It's certainly impressive that Esteban recovered from his accident to play guitar again.
It's certainly not impressive that he's a mediocre guitar player who peddles his crappy guitars and CDs of white bread elevator music on QVC, all while constantly invoking the name of Segovia. 5/8/2007 7:30:56 AM |

I've been looking at other people playing it and they're all playing high up bar chords like on the 8th fret... so I dunno. The tabs that I found are way up on the 2nd fret :/

btw, i think that sounds awesome. but i suppose classical is a place to start. once you get the basics down, then you can move on.
