So I have a 2000 Honda Accord V6 2 door, and here's the issue I have had:
about once a year I guess, after my care has been parked for at least 8 hours, it won't start. The engine turns, the battery is fine, the starter does not click, it just won't stop. So I kind of wait for a while, 5-20 minutes, and it finally starts.
This hasn't happened in a long time but it happened yesterday after work and took forever to finally start. After it starts up though, its fine and never have a problem with it. Anyone have any idea what this might be? Any time I have taken the car in ad asked about it they can never help at all. 4/3/2007 10:31:54 AM |

I had a weird starting problem with my integra last summer. If I shut the engine off and then tried to start it a few minutes later it would not fire. Then after a number of tries magically it decides to start again. 4/3/2007 10:55:39 AM |

hot start problems are often main relay problems. but i dunno about cold start. i was about to go down the main relay path, but then it started working.. havent thought much about it since 4/3/2007 10:59:29 AM |

it's a defect, but i think you are out of the warranty period. 4/3/2007 11:11:57 AM |

My powertrain is still good for another 700 miles actually. Can you give me more info on this defect? 4/3/2007 11:16:48 AM |

does it only happen when it's really hot outside? I have a 1990 Honda Accord and had to replace the main relay, b/c on really hot days it wouldn't work => fuel pump won't work => no start. 4/4/2007 12:24:35 AM |

^ No, I think the change and weather may sometimes have something to do with it, but not significant enough that I can tell.
Seotaji, what about the defect that you're talking about? More information on this would be really helpful. 4/4/2007 9:00:31 AM |

i don't believe it has anything to do with powertrain.
there was a problem a while back with '00 MY accords with ignition problems.
i forget what the fix was, but you might be able to find it by doing a TSB search. 4/4/2007 1:05:46 PM |
