I really think Sidney found a gem. If we can get a solid PG and a servicable PG from Degand, Gonzalez, and Johnson, I really think we could be a team to contend with next year. Julius Mays is supposed to be nasty, coming in 2008. 4/4/2007 1:52:43 AM |

i don't know. but what i'm saying is, i have no idea how much of his time this is going to take up. what if he decides he has to devote too much time to helping his son to be an effective coach?
that's my biggest worry, not that he steps down b/c has a bad image or something stupid like that. 4/4/2007 2:10:14 AM |

Let's not forget that his son is 21 and has been under his mothers supervision due to the fact of Sidney coaching in Detroit/wherever else.
But anyways, JJ was a HUGE get for the Pack. Coster + McCauley + Hickson = One of the best damn front courts in america. 4/4/2007 2:43:44 AM |

While nothing is impossible, Lowe is going nowhere. Even if his son is that troubled, it's not like Lowe is going to quit. Does anyone know a situation where they know a father who has quit their job entirely to concentrate on a family member who is grown?
Hickson is a beast, and I still cannot believe people out there think he's coming to little Ole NC State, an NIT team, to not start. 4/4/2007 9:40:15 AM |

I'm pretty sure Andy Reid's kid was like 17-18 range and still lived with him, so it's a bit different, his kids weren't "on their own".
And yeah Hickson will be a beast. Apparently the media already has high hopes for us. One of the CNNSI writers looking at next year's top teams has his top 10 and then a list of "On the Fringe" and we're in there with 20 teams including Duke. Pretty impressive but understandable with all that we're returning and adding.

I'm not sure of this "we" business, I think you were an NIT team as well, but just got into the NCAA because of the name on your jersey
While you cannot start five 4's and 5's, you missed Gtown's team this year, they had a huge team. And I don't want to turn this into a thread of who he is going to replace, McD AA's don't come to NIT teams to ride the pine, especially if you think he's one and done, which I do not, I think he will stay 2, I didn't event hink Bosh had that great of a season or showed ridiculous pro potential his fresh season.

Pretty clever here i must say . Sheldon Williams had just as much of an impact and showed just as much potential, obvioulsy bosh is great in the NBA, but I didn't see the potential his Frosh year that I see out of Oden and Durant, or Wright.

the perfect situation would be if one of these potential point guards turns out to be
1. a good interior passer 2. pushes the ball up court quickly 2. makes a low number of turnovers 3. around 40-50% three point accuracy 5 - 10 attempts per game 4/4/2007 12:27:38 PM |

we just need somebody who can help the big 3 get around 15 - 20 points per game each and then between fells, grant, horner, and the whatever pg emerges we should be a really high scoring fast pace team 4/4/2007 12:36:44 PM |

^^^, ^^ Don't hold your breath.
My projections:
Degand will be similar to Cliff Crawford (very fast but turnover prone and out of control on the break) Johnson will be similar to Dom Mejia (SG trying to play PG) Gonzalez will be similar to FrO'Donnell (pure PG, but not quite ACC-caliber)

So basically we need Jr year Ray Felton or Chris Paul running the point? All 4 of those thing would make an All American.
Personally, I'll settle on one thing next year and I'll be happy
1. Gavin Grant not running the point for an extended period of the season.
^ I think from what I've seen/read that Javi is a lot more athletic than O'Donnell could dream of being, but the others are probably pretty spot on. Marques Johnson is DEFINITELY more of a 2..

no, i'm just saying i want a guy who doesn't make alot turnovers can shoot the 3 ball well and can pass
doesn't have to average 10 + points a game just needs to able to feed the other players
thats it

JJ is/was the 3rd best center according to scout. Now that the ice has been broken, there's now way Gavin gets benched as the lone senior, that's just crazy talk, no matter how many times he passes it to the other team/the sideline/no onei n particular. He can be the leader we need if he wants to be. All I know is that practice next season is going to be very intense, and Lowe won't have to take crap from anyone taking defensive plays off, and before anyone comes crying to any certain player's defense, I'm talking about taking plays off defensively in the first half of many games (and of course well into the second half, but I'm willing to concede playing 7 bodies late in the year had somethign to do with that). I'm really not concerned with how player X shut down the opposing team's best player one night, and then let a scrub work him the next, consistency is what we need 4/4/2007 2:16:31 PM |
