I spent four years in the AF program and alot of us used to post on here. Just wondering if this is getting dated or if it's still in use.

I'm in the army program now and haven't heard it mentioned a single time.

Wolf2Ranger: you and I lived in Tucker hall the same year 2001-2002.
you enlist and go ranger?

Wolfpack0122: you and I both left Air Force the same semester. Difference is you walked away clean and they held a loophole in the contract over my head all semester.

I was in Army ROTC for 2 years 03-05, when the last cadre group were here. Holiday, Waz, Truax, Medley, and the guy that resembled Medley but was usually only there for helping on training. Those were some fun times. Only class I looked forward to, but I've heard the new cadre is more formal and strict.

^^^Ahahahaha, Sergeant Holliday may be my favorite person ever to call me a "waste of government resources."

In fairness, it was in the context of saying, "You're all a waste of government resources."

Yeah, he counted my situps and pushups and no doubt got extremely bored timing my two-mile.

And he contsantly gave advice on how to get in the sack with random women, if I recall correctly.

Chief, you and I were in for exactly the same period, who the hell are you?

I have spent two years of heavy drinking trying to forget PT tests.

No, that was before my time. I don't know if my mind has just blown up the myth, but I'll swear up and down I saw Holliday jogging alongside the fast group with a cup of coffee and/or a cigarette dangling out of his mouth.

And Truax, hahahaha, that Star Wars nerd...

Major Truax: "I can quote the entirity of Episode IV. Every single line. I used to practice on bus rides. And what is the lesson here? That you can be a killer of men, and still enjoy the finer things in life."

yea, Capt......(Maj. Truax now) was a nerd if i ever saw one....

I remember the captain in Vet school who was jewish. We went down to Fort Jackson for RC and he started getting calls from a guy from California claiming to be part of Hezbollah. This "Hezbollah" fucker called the cell phone like every 5 minutes...

Finally, we traced the call and notified FBI and I never heard anything else about it

Heh, I remember doing a lab out in Schenk, and that big guy who was ethnic Indian but from the Carribean ran up and started freaking out because he'd run into a goose in the woods. You'd think it was an al Qaeda cell.

Well it didn't help that he had an indian accent crossed with an island accent. He was a cool guy, though.

Of course, I saw an MS I jump about eight feet in the air because a butterfly crossed his path, which is even worse.

Im in the same boat man. I was pretty much 95% assured an Army Rotc scholarship for 4-years. I got a medical disqual because I had "taken anti-depressants at one point in my life", I appealed and they said it was a "non-waiverable condition".

I seriously could not believe that when I read it. They straight up would not let me in because I had taken prozac when I was 17. You would think if anything they would want people who know to take care of themselves. Its not like Im crazy or constantly depressed or anything either, so I really dont understand.

Not even sure where to begin with comments like this. I know more about the Army than you know about your tiny dick.

I know I wouldn't have wanted you covering my ass. MAYBE they should loosen the standards for CSS, but I would never want to see you in a combat MOS.

^thats exactly what Im talking about, you act like you know a bunch of shit about someone when you don't, youre completely ignorant on the subject. I took anti-depressants when I was 17, big fucking deal. I can promise you I would have no problem being in combat or covering someone in combat, etc; I could shoot people in combat with zero remorse, trust me.

would you rather have me (who took anti depressants IN THE FUCKING PAST), or someone who is currently depressed or going through post traumatic stress disorder and not being treated for it?

I rest my case. So the DoD medical board can eat a fat dick for all I care, because they dont know shit.

Dude, I'm sure you're fine now. But I bet there are a lot of people who took anti-depressants in the past and they are NOT ok. And you can bet that if someone in the military in a combat MOS is currently going through post traumatic stress that they have been pulled out of that position and are being watched very closely.

And I know the Army needs people, but the AF sure doesn't. They are booting people out because they have too many. So if anything on your record is even somewhat questionable, you're gone.

^I understand that some people are not alright that have taken them in the past. So what they should do then, is check people on an individual, case-by-case basis, and not give you a DQ just because you have taken them in the past. If they would have checked me out on my own and not just said "you took prozac so you're out" they would have seen that I was ok, and I would have gotten my scholarship.

I don't know shit about you, nor do I really care to. I do know more than a little about stress in the military.

Quote :

Now that is complete bullshit. Unfortunately, there is no test to see how men will react in combat. Even the best screening and training the Army has to offer has failed on numerous occasions.

You might want to get back on some meds there buddy.

^ Maybe that is the case....maybe not. I know an organization as large as the military cannot cater to the few exceptions. Qualified people are turned away but many of the regulations were put in place for a reason. People with slight asthma and a history of ADD/ADHD are frequently turned down.
