with electronic stability control.

Gay. Super gay. I don't want to have to pay for it, and I bet some cars will start coming out with it where it can't be disabled.

agreed, but maybe it'll entice the big 3 to make better handling vehicles.

it's something that is definitely needed. i've been to countless accidents that is entirely due to lack of driving ability. people are driving faster and more out of control. dmv has failed at teaching people how to drive properly so like everything else in America the blame is put elsewhere and a bandaid is the solution.

Ugh

Extend that out another 15 years:
"Feds to require all new cars to be equipped with automatic driving systems."

Quote :
"I was behind the wheel of a new Chrysler 300 sedan and running late. Suddenly, the car's V8 power was slackening some, though my right foot remained where it was on the gas pedal, urging the car to accelerate.

It turned out that subtle braking was going on, too, to get the big, 4-door car stabilized and headed back in the direction that I had set with the steering wheel.

The actions, all done automatically by the 300's electronic stability control system (ESC), made a big impression once I realized what had occurred in those few seconds.

I had been traveling too fast for a poorly lit, damp, circular ramp that had slick and broken pavement, and one of the auto industry's best safety innovations had just intervened on its own to save me from a skid and likely, a crash."

That is awesome, now when I get a new car I can drive as fast and as dumb as I want and the car will keep me from crashing. I will never again have to slow down on my own while on an entry or exit ramp.

I guess it's a good thing and bad thing. I can see it already, "Electronic stability control fails at stability control; Lawsuit"

"this is what happens when you drink and drive..." show video/image
"this is what happens when you drink and drive..." show video/image
"this is what happens when you drink and drive..." show video/image

I was listening to a statistic on the news and i wanted to scream at them.... supporting this whole operation slow down they said "85% of all accidents involve speeding" and they need to mention that they probably weren't caused by speeding but not paying attention being that 95% of people exceed the speed limit if only 2-3 miles per hour the fact that 85% of all accidents involve speeding doesn't mean shit.

^ i think at any given time 85% of the people on the road are speeding so its safe to say they are uncorrelated

This is why I hate the government.

ABS is invented so cars stop shorter. What do people do? Brake later
Stability control now to be required. What will people do? Drive more recklessly.

Holy fucking shit, this is what the brains in the gov't come up with?
