are there any utilities similar to driver detective, but free? it scans for free so i know which drivers are causing the blue screens but it won't tell me where to get updated ones that work. the ones i've been installing are from the manuf website and they are still considered bad

yea i've tried reinstalling them. here are the ones driver detective tells me are bad:

nvidia ck804 adma controller
nvidia network bus enumerator
nforce4 hyper transport bridge

it's weird because i've had this comp for 2 years now and it was just recently that the drivers went crazy

i've got an asus a8n-sli deluxe board
geforce 7900gs
hauppauge wintv pbr-150 tv tuner card
1 gig of kingston ram
sound blaster audigy 2 zs

the drivers that went crazy were the nforce chipset drivers and the video drivers
i've resolved all of that but it still says my soundcard driver is wrong (don't know how) along with completely random drivers like my usb mouse and keyboard shit (no idea why)

yup so the problems started back up now i can't boot into windows whatsoever

as soon as the screen goes from the black microsoft page to the blue login page it shuts down and restarts

i'm currently posting this through ubuntu's live cd

i'm trying to figure out how to mount my windows hdd through this so i can grab my xp serial to reinstall windows, does anyone have any idea how?

of course it took a complete format and reinstall

For anyone else who might read this thread:

never update your IDE and SATA controllers on a NF4 motherboard. Those drivers are known to cause problems. Only mess with them if you have to.
