Is it a power supply is a power supply is a power supply, so long as it is for an atx case?

I need to replace the power supply on my landlord's computer (closest example I found is here: http://www.ciao.co.uk/Acer_AcerPower_M2__5829681 )

can I just replace it with any 300 watt power supply, or do i need some kind of specific replacement so that it plugs into the mobo correctly?

Check to see if the Mobo has a 20 or 24 pin main connector and make sure the power supply has the same. Or get a power supply that has something like this

check what kind of hard drives/pci rails the mobo has. If there's a SATA connector or a PCI-express slot, try to get a power supply that has the respective connectors.

u makz no senze to ma.

It depends. Sometimes with those compact cases, manufacturers like to make smaller PSU's for them, but the connectors are just the same. The only manufacturer I know of that uses their own PSU specs is dell. If the computer uses a full sized PSU, you shouldn't have much difficulty in using a standard PSU.

older OEM computers used non standard connectors. Do you have the OEM and model number? Or is this a self-built system?

She bought it on overstock.com ( ) and I couldn't find a model number. The serial number didnt help either.

The front of the machine says Acer Power Iseries, and on the side is a label that says Acer Power series FV, but when I googled them I didnt find much in the way of help. At that point i decided to unleash the awesome and terrifying forces of tww.

If it will help I can take a pic of the connectors and case this afternoon & post them
