35% is what is legal in NC, and is a pretty good darkness.

formula one, it was only about $200 to get all four side windows and the rear done on my truck, and that included actually taking out the front windows and doing it on the bench to go completely to the edges so its wont peel, two years and it still looks perfect

rhudy's down here in fayetteville did tinting for $60 to something like $120 back in around '00. i haven't been back there in like 5 years, so i have no idea what they charge now. they employed two guys that only did tinting. i've never seen, nor heard of anyone's tint being fucked up.

well, i've always recommended formula one because they used to do great work. i had them tint the 2 front windows on my wife's highlander and on my truck. i had to carry the highlander back 3 times due to wrinkles and air bubbles/trash in tint. there is still 2-3 small pieces of trash in the driver's window but i got tired a taking it back so i'm not going to worry about it. the guy convinced me there was something wrong with her glass and that was the reason why there was trash but said they would keep fixing it for free until they got it right. he also informed me that they do not take the windows out anymore after i asked him if they did. he said they could do it quicker by not taking them out. pissed me off since i noticed they had sliced the window seal with the razor blade. but my dumbass took my truck there because i always believed they did the best work. low and fucking behold, driver's window has a wrinkle in it and both windows have trash in it. my truck will also be going back to be redone.

in other words, unless you have the time to keep dropping your shit off to be redone, do not take your car to formula one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dadona in Greensboro does very very good work. I've had two vehicles tinted there and they got it right both times on the first try. No bubbles, no wrinkles, and the tint goes all the way to the very edge of the window. It cost me $80 to get the front two windows tinted (20%, it's cheaper if you go 35% but I'm not sure how much cheaper). A friend on mine got all the windows tinted on his TL (7 windows total) at 20% for $300. So it's not cheap, but they do the best window tint job I have ever seen. And a lifetime warrenty is included.

do you have a better suggestion for a shop in Raleigh, underPSI?

not flaming, but if F1 fucked your shit up then we need a viable alternative

technically its 32% since there is a +/- 3% range when using the window tint device thingy while doing inspections, but if you went 32% and came in under that at any given time then you would def be illegal...

nope since i was always told f1 was the best. i do have to say that several years ago they might have been the best. i saw there work and was impressed. until they get to my shit.

and to those with less than 35% on the front two, are you not worried about passing inspection? i'd love for mine to be 20% but it just ain't worth the hassle for me anymore to have to worry about inspection.

I was happy with the work from Formula 1 a few years ago. We tried to do a group buy here a while back, but it fell through.

update on F1: had the windows on my truck redone 2 weeks ago. although i'm not seeing any trash in it, there is a crease about 1/4 way up from the bottom on both windows. i guess they were near the end of the roll. the guy even knew they were there. he told me they would go away in about a week. so i guess ill go back next week to have them retinted for the third time. i'm also going to give them a bill for my time. hah. i can't wait to see what they have to say about that. this shit is ridiculous.

hmm no kidding, I have brought 3 cars there, 2 to Raleigh and 1 to Apex

Never had an issue, I mean yeah I can see a small bubble maybe 2 with each tint job and maybe some small debris but that is usually in the read windshield and you really have to look for it. It comes with a lifetme warranty so if that debris or bubble causes more damage you can just bring it back in.

I am pretty anal about everything being done to perfection but never had any severe issues with either one

you're not too anal if you can live with bubbles in your tint. i on the other hand expect that shit to be perfect especially as much as they charge just for two fucking windows.

any recommendations on the best stuff you can get without spending a fortune? and at least as dark as legal, with a black car in this summer heat I think it would help with temperature issues and also look better
