Good luck finding one.
Cummins ISB's (and all B-series Cummins engines) are pushrod engines. Yes, pushrod with 24 valves.4/18/2007 4:31:35 PM |

I'm not surprised at all, sadly. I have a friend who moved out to Texas to work on oil fleet vehicles (diesel trucks mostly) at a Ford dealership. He tells me about 250's and 350's that have all sorts of shit go wrong with them at 60-70k. Recently he even had one with a spun bearing. 4/19/2007 5:48:38 AM |

03's are known for having alot of problems. it was the first year of the 6.0.
later years are pretty solid. some have head gasket issues, especially once you start modding, but are decent engines otherwise. 4/19/2007 5:59:14 AM |

Haven't had a problem with my dad's Duramax. Bought an 06, already has over 50k plus towing miles on it without a problem, just regular service. 4/19/2007 11:32:33 AM |

lol I didnt realize that was the new ones doing that. I guess the 7.3 is still the one to have then? 4/22/2007 10:26:32 PM |
BigBlueRam All American 16852 Posts user info edit post |
yeah, it has to do with the new particle filter.
the 7.3 is really the only one that's proven to be reliable. the 04 and newer 6.0's aren't bad, but really they haven't been around long enough to tell. head gaskets are the main issue on these. studding the heads with decent hardware fixes them. 03's are junk all the way around. head gaskets, rods, injectors, etc.
my dad has an 05 that's been great so far (only 26k miles). he's running a wild tune on it also. my 7.3 truck has had some injector issues in the past year, but it's got 135k miles. 100k of which have been with a full banks kit. we've run a total of 6 7.3 trucks in the business since 97, and they've all been pretty solid. one dropped a transmission at only 60-70k, but its death was a result of my brother trying to pull a medium duty truck out of the mud on a job site in reverse on pavement. 4/23/2007 12:23:16 AM |
