I hate the Yankees more than anything. I also don't really like AROD because, as a Mariners fan, I hated to see him leave for the money.

It's funny how 35 HRs, .290 AVG, and 121 RBIs can be considered a down year. This year he is on fire (12 HR, 30 RBIs in only 17 games this year) and I expect to see him back to or better than the "usual AROD" form.

Arod, if he stays healthy, will go down in the top 3 best baseball players of all time (if not the best) when he retires. I also expect him to break Hank Aaron's and soon-to-be Barry Bonds HR record. He needs only 27 HR a year for the next 10 years (he'll be 42) to break Hank Aaron's record.

Discuss.

i laughed last year when people said that was a "down" year. I mean, it was. But A-Rod has just been that good over his career.

i heard earlier this year from a pretty good source that he is on the roids....... I didnt believe him, but i guess the extra weight and the home runs have spoken for themselves

^ He lost weight over the offseason, and has hit for power his whole career, even when he was a skinny teenager on the Mariners. It's not all that surprising that a player like ARod can go on a tear like this as he has always had very good power and right now he is seeing the ball very well and connecting well. When you combine those two things you're going to get a lot of HRs. I emember 2 years ago when Tino Martinez hit something like 8 HRs in 8 games or something like that as a pretty much washed-up player. What Arod is doing is amazing, but I don't think there is any way he is on steroids.

I think people were saying he had a "down" year last year because he never came through in the clutch (like he obviously is this year) and had a horrendous postseason.

I don't get booing A-Rod though. I was at a game last summer in Yankee Stadium, and he comes up to the plate his first 3 times and gets outs and people were all over him....then later in the game hits a walk off home run to beat the Braves, and of course, everyone's cheering him.

He should do what Charles Barkley said on Sportscenter last night....win the HR title, BA title, etc...win the MVP....win the World Series...and then say FUCK YOU New York....and hopefully go play for Lou in Chicago.

or go back to Seattle and play for the Mariners again

we would love to see him back

the team has the money to shell out for his ridiculous contract but our piece of shit GM likes to spend his money on shitbags like Beltre and Sexson

Bill Bavasi is the biggest fuckup in the MLB

and booing AROD was just plain wrong. NY doesn't deserve him at all and he should get out no matter where he goes (except for anywhere in the AL West beside the Mariners)

^ good point. Its very early still.

Two things about all this are very apparent though:
-AROD is one of the best players ever to play the game.
-He needs to tell all those Yankee fucks to go to hell and go somewhere he will be appreciated and not railed for every mistake he makes because the fanbase is already woozy over shitbag Jeter who cant stand the fact that AROD is a better player than he is....

^I agree. I can't fucking stand Yankees fans. He needs to leave them and then call them out for not being loyal, but there's probably not many other teams that can pay him as much as the Yankees.

^^ What exactly has Jeter done that makes you say he can't stand the fact that ARod's better than him? He's always one of the first to high-five ARod after his home runs and he and I've seen him laughing in the dugout with ARod plenty of times. I think the media made a much bigger deal out of him and ARod not having sleepovers anymore than they needed to. They both seem to be fine with eachother and they still look like they're friends.

Its the whole thing about being "Mr. Yankee". I listen to alot of talk radio from all over the country and it is the resounding opinion that Jeter and AROD dont mix off the field. Think about it: makes sense that Mr. Yankee should be the best player on the team, right? The guy getting all the good pub from the local rags no matter what he does. Who are the two best yankee players : AROD, then Jeter (AROD also makes more $$ than Jeter).

You could argue many ways about that though, I guess....

Well, if the rumor comes true that Mark Cuban wants to buy the Cubs from that billionaire dude that just bought the Tribune company (that previously owned the Cubs), you can guarantee he wouldn't have a problem shelling out whatever it took to get A-Rod. He would build them up like the Mavericks. Mark Cuban is a winner, and I would love to see him buy my favorite team....I just don't know if the owners would vote against him entering baseball or not.

^you're right

that's even more amazing

I predict 60-65 HRs this year from AROD

He's on pace for 128 HR (obviously highly unlikely)

I predict a massive slump coming on.

Yankee fans will be booing him again by midseason.

there will not be a massive slump. Maybe so if by slump you mean he won't be averaging 0.8 homers a game then yes. But a massive slump with A-rod? That's pretty a pretty naive statement.

I hope he breaks Bonds' single season HR record, then choke in the playoffs again. Then he'll opt out of his massive contract for an even more absurd contract to play for the Red Sox. Yep, I can see it already.

Alex was a Mets fan growing up and offered a discount to the Mets when he was a free agent before signing w/ Texas (thanks for f'ing that up Wilpon as I like Reyes plenty)... he even wore white shoes in the All Star game to honor the '86 Mets according to him.

That said he'll be a Dodger or a Cub IF he leaves, which I don't think he will, but I wet myself thinking of this infield:

Delgado 1B
Wright 2B
Reyes SS
A-Rod 3B

i've always liked a-rod as a player, minus his bitch moves against the red sox (the fight with varitek, the purse slap at first base). i just refuse to believe ANY player is worth a quarter of a billion dollars

If you haven't noticed the rest of the team is playing pretty damn well too, with most of them having averages above 300. Its the f*cking pitching!
