let me just add a little something to this

if you want a job, there are ways to get hired even without experience. It's called networking. Join a professional organization and attend their meetings. ACEC/NC, PENC, AIA, etc. Student dues are rediculously cheap, so you go to meetings, act like you care about the subjects being discussed (and maybe you'll find you do!) and get to know the old guys who run the place. If they like you, and a couple years from now as you're about to graduate you reveal to them you don't have any experience but are really excited about getting a job in X engineering field, they have the connections to make something happen.

Of course, you've got to [not] be an idiot for that to work, but it's happened before. Someone I know has absolutely zero engineering experience and is probably going to get offered a 5yr+ experience level job based on connections through networking. So it happens. Your degree can count for a lot more than you think it can, and many times employers dont give a damn about GPA. Show them you can communicate, work hard, and aren't afraid of things you don't understand, and that'll go a long way.

They put the experience requirements in entry level job ads to filter out all the pussy faggots who are not critical thinkers. Most of them dream of an experienced candidate who is perfect for the job and wants a cheap salary, but they really just expect a bunch of new grads to apply.
