And now I remember how much I like doing it, and how much I hate it. 4/26/2007 7:26:10 PM |

I just can't bring myself to fuck with the stuff. About how much in resin and glass does a typical box cost for you? I'm a cheap ass and a perfectionist, and those two are nearly mutually exclusive. 4/26/2007 7:39:09 PM |

Yeah, used gloves this time.
It depends on the size of the box, and what I am doing as to how much I use.
Tonight I used about 1/4 gallon. That was to do some contours on a box that would have been a bitch to do with wood. On an all glass/ mostly glass box, expect to use about 2 gallons. If covering a box with carpte it is easy, and relatively fast. If covering the box with vynil or paint, then it takes a good bit more time.
I buy the resin and glass at Home Depot, $25 for a gallon of resin, and $4 per pack (9 sq.ft.) of glass. Keep in mind, that when doing glass, it needs to be 5-7 layers thick to be structural and rigid. There are cheaper places online, but I don't want to deal with shipping when I am never home. 4/26/2007 8:00:46 PM |
